Sure would be nice if we had built some more gas fired power plants for all these folks that have moved into the state. Can’t wait until we have all those electric cars plugged in to the grid here in a few years. I’m sure they will pull half the grids power alone.

My pool is now freezing over and I’m sure my lines and pumps will be frozen.

6 degrees?! Man, I was nervous here in EP because it got to about 16 last night and I was afraid that we'd be repeating the burst pipes scenario of a few years back. I usually turn off the heaters in the other side of the house but I left them on last night hoping that it would help to stop the pipes from freezing. So far, so good.

And today is a holiday. 03-banghead

Had to use shipping tape and rags to try to keep the wind out. The furnace has been running almost nonstop. This morning it was -16.

The joys of climate change, er, winter. 03-lmfao

Your post made me laugh because yesterday when I tried to go outside the door wouldn't budge and I figured immediately that it had frozen over. I found out a few seconds later that the door was still locked. LOL Big Time.

Jeepers, I'm thinking like a Democrat now, or like Senile Joe.

Drove out to the mountains this weekend. Worst drive of my life on Saturday. Once I got west of Richmond frozen trees were crashing down left and right all over the interstate. Chunks of ice flying from cars and doing the slalom to avoid ice and debris. Never seen ice like this. Not even sleet, just clear ice.

3 DeesGrees this morning in Memphis. Our dog turned 1 in Dec. This is her first snow and she's loving it. She doesn't want to come in. Strange for an Australian Shephard/Pitt mix.

I saw a tweet of a helicopter (running on fossil fuel) spraying chemicals (made from fossil fuel) on wind turbine blades (made from fossil fuel) in Texas to get them to unfreeze.

Imagine that.

Only got down to 27 in Atlanta. Had a light dusting of snow. You can see a little on the cars and the roofs. Not enough to stick on the ground. All openings delayed due to black ice on the streets.

If it weren't for the renewable energy we probably wouldn't be having these brown outs. Thank you Al Gore.

I don't know, ERCOT and Abbot are reporting that gas and coal are being knocked offline by the cold.

The TX power grid was impacted by cold in 2011 (with much less wind online), all the plant types (water, gas, nuke) typically use massive amounts of water. In 2011 they were being knocked offline by frozen water supply.

In Horseshoe Bay we have a natural gas power plant located on Lake LBJ. If all of the gas and coal plants were located on lakes we probably wouldn't be having outages.

Winter Storm Uri is past us and now we have Winter Storm Viola following practically the same path.

It's coming up from TX through LA-MS-AR and should hit TN this evening.

RE: OT: Deep Freeze
Finally got power last night. Got down to 14 outside and 40 inside the house (45 downstairs where the fireplace is).

Tons and tons of burst water pipes. And a lot of cities are asking people to boil water. I'd imagine that a lot of utility districts will be out of water soon for all practicality. I think it's mostly PVC and sprinkler systems that are bursting in my neighborhood. But if the pipes are indoors, it can be incredibly expensive (it's expensive enough to replace the outdoor pipes too - we switched over to copper about 6 or 7 years ago. It cost a fortune to do so, but it makes a big difference.)

https://poweroutage.us/area/state/texas

That map shows a current county look at who has power and who doesn't.

It's headed in an easterly direction? Most of the cold weather we get comes from Colorado. I'd rather get the cold than get their Liberals. 03-wink

We got power back last night after 36 hours without.

Once things started warming up, a pipe in an outer garage burst. I fixed that and then a heater in the house went kaput.

Got more snow last night. A few more cold nights and then we warm up.

I mean, you just can't fix stupid.

Quote:While a small but vocal minority of people might use the faulty logic of, "it's cold where I am, therefore global warming isn't real," even schoolchildren know that weather isn't climate. But these extreme cold snaps have gotten more severe in recent years, due to a combination of global warming and a phenomenon you've likely heard of: the polar vortex.

Forbes. Gtfoh. Read a real book. I have. It's all 100% horseshit. I've posted primary references here. It's all about control. Wake up.

So on top of it all you are a climate tard too. I'm not gonna hold your hand here. Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to explain why my favorite color is blue to a dog

It's just more stupidity than I can deal with. I think my blood pressure is getting out of whack.

Post a primary source, i would love to read it.

Research my posts. I'm not holding your hand and covering old ground because you've shown up emboldened by your pedo president.

He's still president?

Maybe, being in Alabammy and all, it's not considered being a pedo as long as it's kept in the family?

Hey bud, you're the one calling dudes pedos. Maybe you weren't jilted by an Ole Miss chick, maybe it was an old dude from OM. Maybe that explains the hatred for the Rebs.

Thoughts and prayers.
