Not a stretch at all. Trump invited those people to DC on January 6th, they showed up in DC on January 6th. Trump invited them to march to the Capitol, they marched to the Capitol. Trump invited them to fight like hell, they fought like hell. Trump tweeted that Pence didn't have the courage to do the right thing, they wanted to kill Mike Pence. There is a direct link.

You gotta be kidding. You want to charge every politician who ever uttered the term "fight like hell". And if they fought like hell why were there 5 casualties each of whom voted for Trump and only one of whom was killed by a firearm and not by the so called insurrectionists?

Dude, the only thing that says is that the Chief Justice presides over the trial of a sitting president. trump is not the sitting president, and the Chief Justice is NOT the Supreme Court. He's one justice. There is no other way to read it.

No. All types of elected and appointed government officials can be impeached and have. The Constitution only mentions that when a sitting president is impeached that the Chief Justice presides. Otherwise he doesn't have to.

Further, impeachment just means to bring to trial. It doesn't mean to unseat. That only happens upon conviction.

I learned this stuff in junior high IIRC, didn't you?

The House Managers have done a masterful job of plotting the timeline from Summer 2020 to the events of January 6th, 2021. Trump is guilty of the charges he is accused but the Republican Party has become so jaded and corrupted that 70% of it are more beholden to Trump than they are to the country they profess to love.

I remember my undergraduate days, we had a college court composed of students that adjudicated student-v-student disputes. We had a situation where some upperclassmen convinced a freshman that it would be a really cool trick to knock on this one door while he had a trash can full of water, and when the door was answered, to dump the water into the room. The room belonged to a linebacker who ultimately played several years in the NFL and got a couple of Super Bowl rings. When the kid dumped the water, he responded by cuffing the kid about a bit, not really injuring him, just enough to convince the kid never to do anything like that again. The kid brought an action before the college court. At the trial, the kid said, "He tried to kill me." The chief judge, my former roommate, looked at the kid and said, "If HE hand tied to kill YOU, you'd be dead."

As Trump has proven, the period of time between Election Day and Inauguration Day is a potentially perilous time for our country and absolving a tyrant from their actions because they’ll soon be out of office is nonsensical. Donald Trump incited this mass of people. He built this fire stick by stick over a period of 6-8 months... and when all else was lost, he lit the match.
