Terry Nelson - Family Fire
Mom and sister had to jump from the third story when their apartment building caught on fire.

Very sad.
Will their fire insurance cover medical costs?

Will the apartment owners fire insurance cover occupants medical costs?

RE: Terry Nelson - Family Fire
I am very sorry to hear of this. It sounds like a very serious situation. I am glad they all survived albeit seriously injured.
I hope they had renters insurance of some sort as the landlord's property insurance will cover the structure only.

If the cause of the fire was related to the building...faulty wiring, etc. then his mother and extended family can sue.
If the cause was related to something the family did...left a candle or food burning, etc. they might be sued.

Prayers for their full recovery.

Very sad, but thankful everyone survived. Heartwarming to see Bearcat nation throw their support to Terry and his family. Even Dan Cronin donated.

No, and no.

They might have med pay on a renters policy or even the landlord’s fire policy. But that only covers $5k - $10k in most cases. Basically pays the deductible.

So their medical insurance be it Medicare,Medicaid, ObamaCare or work insurance will be primary and then these funds cover the copays. Perhaps they also have Aflac!
