All the conferences involved are working very hard so the transition to CUSA could, will ?, take place in July of this year, 2004!! All the AD's including Judy say there is a good possibility it will happen. It appears that The Big East is the only one really slowing things down right down, wouldn't you know it. Unfortunately all the conferences have to be involved, so if the those ....... in the Big East don't get it together all the work of the other conferences will be worthless but it seems fairly positive right now. The MWC and of course my favorite team ,TCU , could throw a minor monkey wrench into it also!! The MWC is suppose to invite TCU by the end of this month, but it appears there isn't unanimous agreement on TCU yet. If there is a way to get all the conference moves done, everyone agrees that's what they want to do!!

I would think that a decision would need to be made fairly soon so that football schedules can be adjusted to fit the new conference affiliations.

I agree it needs to get done soon, but most, or all, of the teams involved were going to play eight conference games, whether those are against CUSA or WAC opponents wouldn't make much difference. Any OOC games might be affected if they are not the first three or four weeks of the season. It would be a little work but not as bad as it might seem!!

This would be fantastic news.
I would think the schedules could be worked out. You have 8 conferences games before the switch, you have 8 afterwards. You might have to juggle a home game here and there, but it should be fairly straightforward.

Andy Katz says no. It won't happen until 2005-2006. From the ESPN site.

Big East does not want to put up the cash to make it happen.

I know everyone wanted out of the lame duck year but I'm glad the changes won't happen until 2005-2006. Why? I'm selfish and I'm looking forward to attending the WAC tournament in Reno and watching TU play.
