First off - I don't condone any threats like that from or to anyone.

Secondly, there is a difference between a publicly elected official and Joe the Plumber. Neither is right, but an elected official should be held to a higher standard.


There is an assumption of "rational sanity" for a person who is elected to office. I know - insert Trump joke here. Joe the plumber does not have any standard of rational sanity applied to him. Joe can be brushed off as a crack-pot CJ can not.
