Southern Miss couldn't throw the ball in the ocean (13 of 53 from the field, 7 of 13 at free throw line) in a 58-38 loss at Tulane. It was UGLY. Southern Miss now sits at 1-2.

UNCC fans what should we expect to see tomorrow vs. App St?
App has a lot of new faces, especially in the post. Weakness thus far is rebounding, strength is guard/wing depth, but we've only had one meaningful game vs. Bowling Green so who knows.

Youth. Good defense and an offense that executes better in transition than in the half court. Long possessions from us. We looked decent this last time out, but it was against South Carolina State, so it's tough to know what to really take from that. Shooting seems streaky, but we've been encouraged by the play of some guys like Brice Williams, Garcia, and Rissetto. Still up in the air whether we'll have the services of our sharpshooter, Threadgill, who was the victim of a dirty play our last time out (the perpetrator was thrown out of the game). We're definitely strongest in guard play (Young and Shep), but our depth is in question - I'd look for you guys to be aggressive in an effort to get us in early foul trouble.

Sounds like both teams will want to use heavy pressure to force points off turnovers as App is also better in transition. Likely due to a lack of post players.

I like the idea of trying to raise our SoS. It would be nice to win a game though.

Rice adds a game vs. New Mexico Sunday in Houston (to replace the UH game after they cancelled). This will be UNM's season opener. Apparently they're going to stay in Houston for a few days (they can't practice in their state anyway so I think they were practicing in West Texas?), and they're going to try to play two more NC games at Rice's gym on Tuesday and Thursday if they can (but not against Rice - other teams).
ETA - this is such a crazy basketball season.

I was actually impressed with GW last night, they played hard from start to finish and made shots all night. GW might might not play another game like that all year, but they look as good as anyone we have played all season

I think we are the only conference were when our teams play at home the other team gets more free throws. Whenever our teams are on the road, other team gets twice to 3 times as many free throws as our teams do. Charlotte at home, and others, other teams gets more.

App took the game to UNCC and just out outcoached them. App shot the ball about as bad as a team can, but the defense (aka block party) was fun to watch. We’re now a basketball school.

Was surprised, other than Young I don’t think any other UNCC player starts at App. Great D effort especially given the shots weren’t falling.

.....it's hard to get excited about a win over SLU.

LT led by 16 early in the 2nd half at the Cajundome. But they’re about to blow it.
