I'm not sure Aresco knew it was happening.
This is an interview with him on Pirate Radio yesterday around 5:30pm. I tried to timestamp the link, but skip to 2:26:00.
He mentioned trying to keep teams close to home for the bowls, and specifically mentioned the Armed Forces Bowl when talking about our Texas teams.
I don't think he knew. Knowing Aresco, I would think he'd avoid mentioning that bowl at least if he was aware that we were getting bumped.
That would make more sense as the stated goal of the conference has always been to get as many bowl games vs the P5 as possible...and the Armed Forces Bowl was against the Big12 this year. The loss of the AFB leaves the AAC with only 5 slots as the Fenway Bowl (vs another P5 opponent--the ACC) was canceled for 2020 back in October. So, of our 3 permanent ties where we have a slot every year, only the Military Bowl remains for 2020. We also have 4 slots from a list of ESPN junk bowls.
Right, but the P6 thing to do would have been to keep our spot and slot a PAC12 team in, rather than ditching it once we didn't have a Big12 opponent.(keeping in mind that I still don't think Aresco had a say in the matter)

If ESPN yanked the AAC out of the bowl without telling Aresco first that low down dirty.
I'm waiting for the full official announcement. I have a feeling this may be like our Fenway to Montgomery Bowl move. AFB might just be hosting 2 games to help PAC and SEC loosing their stadium.
