WBB Compass Challenge-- SIU out, schedule changes, add ESPN+
The SIU Salukis women's basketball team will not play in the annual Compass Challenge Dec. 4-5 at EIU in Charleston.

SIU posted the following on its athletic website:

https://siusalukis.com/news/2020/11/27/s...games.aspx

According to the (Memphis) Commercial Appeal, "Originally scheduled for Sunday, the Lady Tigers' first opponent – Southern Illinois University – has been forced to pause for seven days after one of its players tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the positive test and subsequent contact tracing, the Lady Salukis do not have the minimum of eight players required to compete."

NIU is scheduled to play EIU in the second game on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. SIU was scheduled to play WIU at 3 p.m. No word yet on what happens to the CC. If you hear anything, please post.

EIU defeated UIC 82-71 at home on Nov. 25 and is scheduled to play Minnesota on Dec. 2. Meanwhile, WIU lost at Wisconsin on Sunday, 73-66. Their next game was to be vs. SIU.

RE: SIU out of WBB Compass Challenge
Just for the hey of it ... if they want to keep the "compass," SIU-Edwardsville WBB plays at Arkansas State Dec. 2 and not again until Dec. 9 at home vs. the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (listed on their schedule just that way).

I wonder if that university changed its name. I'm from that area and always knew it as St. Louis College of Pharmacy and, for short, people called it StLCoP ("Still Cop").

Btw, their mascot is the "Eutetic".

According to their website, it's still the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. Here's their athletic website ...
http://www.eutecticsports.com/

On Nov. 30 they defeated Baptist Bible College 83-67 (listed as an exhibition), but have "COVID no contest" listed for the next three scheduled games, and canceled a fourth. Their next listed game after all that is vs. SIUE on Dec. 9.

RE: SIU out of WBB Compass Challenge
The Compass Challenge is apparently now a 3-team tournament. Acording to the EIU (hosting) website ...

"Changes to the EIU women's schedule will come during the weekend with the Compass Tournament as Southern Illinois will no longer be participating. EIU will now face Northern Illinois on Friday at 3 p.m. On Saturday, NIU will face Western Illinois at 2 p.m. The Compass Tournament will conclude on Sunday with EIU hosting WIU at 2 p.m."

Note the NIU-EIU game is at 3 p.m., a change from the original 6 p.m. tipoff. Still two games in two days for the Huskies, with WIU on Saturday. And the tournament is stretched from Dec. 4-5 to Dec. 4-5-6.

Also note ... the ESPN schedule shows all 3 games on ESPN+.

(Changed the thread title to reflect above).
