RE: Temple Game Canceled
UC is two wins away from a perfect season and NY6 bowl. Not playing games actually helps. Heck I am ok with conference giving UC and Tulsa earning co-champs and cancelling all games at this point, ok not really. UC can only hurt themselves by playing any game.

Why not play 12/5?

I thought the same thing but its been announced that it won't be rescheduled. Can't say I mind.

Only thing winning that game could have accomplished is risking potential injuries.

Cancel game at Tulsa and we get to play at Nip.

They already got a loss.

Conference loss.

I would love it if we could set something up with Indiana. Were we to win that game, it would essentially level us out with OSU by nature of common opponent, and we'd have the better resume after that. Now all of this is moot because I don't think we'd be able to play on the 5th based on conference regulations.
Not to mention, we're a significantly better team than Indiana

They lost to ECU but the refs didn’t get the memo.

Guessing the why risk spreading CV around that could impact the Tulsa game was the motivating issue.

OR... Temple didn't want to absorb another beating and UC didn't want to have to pay to go to philly to do it.

That's why they're not playing it 12/5. If it was really just about covid they would.

Big Ten has prohibited their members playing OOC...several times. (See: Nebraska)

RE: Temple Game Canceled
I looked at the schedules of the top ten teams, and the only one who might play more than 11 games is Notre Dame. 10-0 vs. 11-0 with the extra win against a terrible Temple team isn't going to hurt us.

If they were going to have the 5th string QB starting again then preemptive mercy rule.

We would have needed to play that game with the high school running clock rule.

RE: Temple Game Canceled
I'm looking at it this way -- say we go in there and some things work against us. Low energy, a couple turnovers, etc. We come away with a win, but it's something really unimpressive like 27-14. I know that isn't a likely result, but there's more risk in playing the game than not playing it with the CFP selection committee.

I agree, particularly sitting at #7.

The Temple game was pretty worthless for SOS & SOR. If we could schedule a good home game for 12/5 I’d still like to.

Good reminder. Regardless, coach and athletic department should not just call these teams, we should tell the media that we’re willing to play Indiana or Wisconsin or Southern California. It’s kind of over the top but let people know. Shout at the rooftops that we will play anybody. Let the pollsters know that we were willing to play, but others would not give us a game.

Like BK said he would play osu in a parking lot in Dayton or whatever it was.

Figured this was going to happen, surprised it didn’t happen earlier.

I don't think our number of cases went up. I mean, we had a few more injured players, but we also were getting back a couple that had been out. It's not like suddenly even more players were Covid positive and/or injured. The conference didn't care before. It's not like they suddenly cared now.
