When the left calls for negotiations to resume before the election (if they do), then they are calling for the House to resume working up to election day.

And that would be calling for the Senate to resume working...

And that would lead to...

confirmation hearings.

This is indeed chess.

Not really, he called on the Senate to stop worrying about the stimulus and focus on confirmation hearings

Only in public. It is now the Democrats play. See how they counter. Trump just walked away from the table. Anyone ever in sales knows the two letters that make you the most money are N and O. For those of you that are slow that's NO

RE: Trump says to break off stimulus negotiations
From both a government/policy standpoint *and* from a media/politics standpoint, Trump’s announcement is good news.

Which is not to say that he is going to win the election. He might or he might not. The odds are against him. But the people who are voting against him would still be against him even if he caved in to Pelosi’s demands. And the people who are voting for him would feel let-down and burned right before the election.

But if Trump does win, he can get much better terms than this. And if he loses, the Biden/Democrats will do this or something like this, anyway. No worse off than if Trump had caved.

I totally agree on no bailout for poorly run Demoncraptic cities and states. Collectivism needs to be shown the door this election. Thanks, Donald for drawing a line in the sand that many republicans in the past stepped all over. THIS is the kind of thing that makes me and many others vote for Trump despite his occasional personality flaws.

RE: Trump says to break off stimulus negotiations
As others have said, I'm convinced this is posturing.

While the President can, he is under no obligation to and he has no formal standing to negotiate a settlement between the house and Senate, who have let this thing drag on now for months.

People ignore the politics of that, and act like this is all Trump's doing. People are stupid.

Pass something and see if he vetoes it. I dare you.

The lefties on twitter are whining:

"Trump knew his statement would tank the market, so his buddies could buy up cheap and then he put out the 'rebound' statement".

markets will be fine with a Biden presidency as long as the Senate stays with the GOP. If it flips and Biden wins, oooo boy.

Maybe.... Maybe not....

Quote:Based on the economic proposals of both President Trump and Biden, “the economic outlook is strongest under the scenario in which Biden and the Democrats sweep Congress and fully adopt their economic agenda,” said Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Even allowing for some variability in the accuracy of the economic modeling and underlying assumptions that drive our analysis, we conclude that Biden’s economic proposals would result in a stronger U.S. economy than Trump’s,” Moody’s concluded.
