RE: UTEP vs Stephen F Austin
All UTEP needed was for an AAC troll to start a game thread, then the comeback was on.

All of this because no one started a UTEP game thread?

Not really, UTEP fans aren't exactly regulars on this board and their program has stagnated at the bottom of CUSA. UTEP is an expensive trip for CUSA East teams and they seem to have checked out as far as elevating their football program.

Is it more expensive to charter into El Paso than Houston or San Antonio? If so I'd bet it's very little. Basketball likely will send east teams to UTEP once every other year. Football once for each east team every six or seven years. A real burden. It's more expensive for UTEP than anyone else.

As for having few Miner fans on the board now, being in the sports doldrums , especially football the last few years, will dampen enthusiasm of any fanbase.

UTEP is not leaving cusa anytime soon whether we or you like it or not. UTEP football will be competitive again, hopefully sooner than later.

No one even bothered to start a UTEP game thread. Sadly I'm thinking it's time to show UTEP the door, they're a geographic outlier CUSA would be better off with a team that fits the geographic footprint better.

At least UTEP is playing their season. Maybe you should look at the program that left eight C-USA programs with a holes in their schedule.

Don't be a D'Bag Sideshit. You don't have a clue as to what restrictions we are under from the state. With those restrictions its impossible to play with a G5 budget and even if you are a P5 i am not sure how anyone can practice and play with the state limiting us to 50 person per venue in Hampton Roads.

All ramblings aside Good Job UTEP. You got the W that's all what matters.

Virginia chose to keep their dirt bag racist governor. You elected your leadership. If you are under oppressive restrictions that is entirely the fault of your state's population. You still have the biggest budget in C-USA. Playing this season is costing every program more money in testing and preventative measures, but the rest of us are still playing. UTEP is certainly a geographic outlier in C-USA, but ODU seems to be an outlier culturally. If you don't like this conclusion, start pulling in the same direction as the rest of C-USA.

One of your best posts ever, SSJ. Very bold, and very true. Some essential facts:

- The state of Virginia did choose to keep their racists governor, well after they KNEW he was indeed a racist. This fact is mind boggling.

- ODU does have the largest athletic budget in CUSA. Yet somehow, ODU can't afford to field a football team in 2020 while members with budgets literally half their size can.

- And because ODU chose not to play football in 2020, it is a fact that many CUSA schools are being inconvenienced.

- ODU is NOT the only member of CUSA playing under state and locally imposed COVID restrictions.

- ODU really does seem to be an outlier culturally. That's not a criticism, it's just an observation (which is probably shared by a few honest ODU fans). You are who you are. Make the changes you believe you need to make, but be comfortable with who you are.

In the end, ODU just needs to ask itself, are we really a football school? Do we really want it? There's nothing wrong with being a great basketball school, with less emphasis on football (e.g., Georgetown U, etc...) But CUSA is probably not the best place for that.

I try to be nice and fair, but I'm far from perfect. I think ODU has some great fans (excluding two that post on this board often). I want the best for ODU as long as it aligns with what is best for C-USA. While we all have issues with C-USA, too often ODU seems at odds with what the conference is working towards. Sometimes things just need to be said bluntly.
