No B1G/P12 increases AAC's CFP chances but counterbalanced by limited P5 OOC exposure
In other words, does the AAC have enough P5 opportunities to give it the chance to realistically shoot for that #4 spot. I think an undefeated AAC team could get in as long as there are no more than 3 P3 schools with less than 2 losses by the end of the season. I also think that since the AAC finished ahead of the ACC last year, that gives the AAC a better starting position than it has ever had to start the season.

My guess, one from each P3 + ND... AAC #5.

I see us as having a near-zero percent chance of making it. Two SEC teams, Clemson, Oklahoma.
Perhaps if we still had UNC and they had a good season, we went undefeated, and no one from the SEC had a strong case for #4..... but alas.

Bama, Georgia, OU, and Clemson. The Pac and Big10 won't be missed.

0.0 percent chance. It will never happen under the current CFP format.

Actually the mediocre P5 programs won't be able to hide behind their normally weak OOC schedules this season. That should provide for some additional honesty in the polls if not the national championship playoffs.

Of course bowl predictions this early is all about click bait. But I am still happy to see the Bearcats projected to be in the NY6 bowl.

This. No love is coming our way. It will be just like the SEC short about the road trip. The window will get rolled up in our faces as we’re trying to talk our way in. Eight team playoff is the only chance we got.

They would consider putting in four SEC school's in before a single AAC school.

Dang. Outside of UCF making the playoffs, they sure lowballed the AAC in their bowl predictions.
Temple vs. Florida Atlantic
Boston College vs. Memphis
Texas Tech vs. SMU
Navy vs. UAB
Pitt vs. Cincinnati
Kansas State vs. Houston
Alabama vs. UCF
That's a damn fine bowl lineup. Tulane is missing but lots of A5 opportunities.

I looked at that and thought "does ACC really not get down to the Military Bowl?"
And then for just an instant thought, "Maybe we could get ND at NMCMS.!"
And then reality set in

I don't think it's impossible, but considerably unlikely. Said this on another thread. If there is a year that one of us makes it, it has to be a situation where an AAC team knocks off a 1-loss P5 champ. It also probably needs to be a perennial champ (Alabama/Oklahoma) in one of the real conferences. i.e. not the Pac12 champ or an ACC champ that isn't Clemson.
Houston a few years back had the best chance, but it didn't work out for multiple reasons. They had Louisville and Oklahoma on the schedule. They got as high as 4th for a bit. If, in an alternate universe, they had won out in the AAC to go undefeated, AND the Oklahoma and Louisville teams that they beat had both won their conferences, it would have taken some real gymnastics to keep Houston out and let one of those two in. Those are ridiculous circumstances, but it's greater than 0.0%.
That said, given the ridiculous criteria above, no one really has the schedule to get it done this year. Other than ND, who could technically win the ACC, no one is playing a powerhouse. Any P5 opponent we have that wins their conference this year would be a fluke.
