Is an EDGE a LB or DL? I’ve been trying to figure that out since the term started being used. When pass rushing, he lines up almost as a DE but with the ability to stunt in to a middle gap. I don’t think I’ve seen one in a 3- or 4-pt stance. But I haven’t noticed an EDGE playing a traditional OLB role either. In my day we had a Rover, but that was more of a nickel-back.

Of course I was also watching a lot of Dean Pees’ defenses for the Titans the last few years and that guy did all kinds of weird looks. He’d have Jurrell Casey lined up almost as a MLB with no one in a down stance on the line.
