You are correct about the virus, but stupidity spreads at the Local and State government levels.

There is a big difference between parents going to watch their high school kid, and joe 6 pack superfan can't go and watch their favorite college team in the stands.

I believe attendance is limited to a few family members for H.S. football.

Depends on where you are. In Tennessee, local school authorities allowed 1000 fans for Covington's opening game. That's 750 for the home fans and 250 for the visitors. Because of fans not following 6' social distancing and mask rules, the next home game will be limited to 600 home fans.

I believe attendance is limited to a few family members for H.S. football.

One of the main advantages touted of having a football program and why a on campus stadium is so critical, is the return of Alumni to campus. Homecoming games tend to bring the most attention, but I know people who when they return home or are in the area for some other purpose who attend games. I know of some OU fans who live outside the state who plan vacation based on attending a football game.

High school football even in a state as crazed with it as Oklahoma or Texas tends to be a community thing. In most Oklahoma high school stadiums they have a seperate visiting section, often with their own concessions, restrooms, etc. Some communities caravan and students ride the buses but even then stadiums have seperate parking and entrances. High school sports already lend themselves to a cilo effect that makes switching to a pod type system relatively easy. Essentially if they cut out stopping for food or breaks at a non-local location they could replicate a bubble effect. For some of the small towns where high school football is the social binding this is already the defacto set up.

The issue much like sending kids to school is the spread, college and pro sports are larger, more diverse, and attract people from all locations. We even have people who attend events at various stadiums just to assert they have been to Yankee stadium, or Wrigley field, or all 32 nfl stadiums, etc. One of the main reasons given and probably a contributing factor to the original plateauing of the US corobovirus was that college/schools not allowing students back after a spring break filled with travel.

So limiting or not allowing attendance is logical when you take into account the cross travel and therefore cross contamination of communities. It is also why you will begin to see outbreaks in multiple states traced back to sturgis over the next two to three weeks.

It depends, if college FB like the other sports pushes social justice down peoples throats' like the NBA and Baseball, the TV ratings will suck, just as they do for the other sports.

Huh? You just changed the thread.

I'm thinking as things unfold with each passing month of the season you could see them opening up to more and more attendance. Possibly at 50-75% by November.

I was simply replying to the statement that more people will be Tuning in. That has not been the case with the other sports that have restarted. People have been tuning out.

No you added your own little political opinion to the first post in which no one is interested on the AAC board. Take it to the politics board, or keep it factual like this last post.

RE: Cincinnati - no fans in stands to start the season
Article on recent television ratings and what is going on, a big factor? All these sports are being condensed into a shorter period and directly competing with each other. While this happens in normal years, the games tend to be more spread out and have less direct competition.

https://sports.yahoo.com/no-sports-tv-ra...37104.html

So the fact that NBA, MLS, MLB, WNBA, NASCAR are all on and most more frequently than in the past because there are fewer off days has caused them to directly compete.with each other.

People will be watching college and pro football. Football is the American beast of sports.

I stopped reading the article at the title, It's an anti Trump spin on the fact that I'm not watching sports because of the political and social aspects involved...

Trump has nothing to do with it or Biden for that matter. Everyone else can agree or disagree, that's just from my point of view.

I personally watch more Golf than NASCAR or Professional Basketball (NBA or WNBA)... So the saturation of sporting events is irrelevant, just an opinion, not a fact.

Yes because you are the only type of sports fan there is and all the millions of people who watch the other sports never cross over. Not like we have a OT pro soccer thread on this board dedicated to an American collegiate athletics conference.

Trump spin, didn't I just say something about take it to the politics board. I find it incredibly ironic that the "get politics out of sports" crowd are the ones who much like vegans have to run around and tell every sports fan they aren't watching sports because of politics. Not one comprehensive look at sports/sports viewing has found that to be true. The article clearly gives reasons for the drop and ratings. Hint it's not political, it's a growing trend, which is why cable companies are also struggling.

If the manner in which testing is being done were changed to more accurately indicate who is infectious, maybe we could have a normal fan involvement without the hysteria.

Really? Never disagreed with much of your posts or responses because I believe that everyone has and is entitled to an opinion, I was simply sharing my opinion about that article not you, and why i'm not watching any other sports except for College football... If it is played.

Have to disagree with your response this time. We'll get back on track with the next post.
