Could FAU and Marshall leverage a high profile P5 QB transfer?
Southern Miss just announced a pretty solid grad transfer QB for this Fall.

With some conferences shut down, it's feasible a potential high profile QB could transfer in the coming weeks.

Marshall and FAU are in need of a new QB.

Is there a potential for a P5 or other high profile QB transfer whose conference has shut down to transfer with immediate eligibility?

Before you scoff at the thought of Justin Fields transfering to an FAU or Marshall. Consider this.

Russel Wilson nearly transfered to Marshall as a grad transfer after his NC State completion, before he ended up at Wisconsin. So it's feasible.

Also, the few schools remaining in play may not have room on their roster for a potential transfer...

Isn't Justin Fields going to be a true junior. I doubt he would be a grad transfer.

I think we are fine at QB, but I’ll take any highly rated transfer at this point. It’s always good to get some depth.

I'm using Justin Fields as an example. There's a lot of speculation he's leaving to go to a school that would be playing here in a few weeks. Not saying it's a CUSA team, but there are limited options.

Officially, the transfer waiver doesn't start until after this season, but it's covid-19, and I expect immediate waiver approvals to be applied in these situations.

I agree...I think we are good at QB, do we have a Robison talent on the roster? No. Tronti is a physical runner, Agner is game manager, Posey could be electric. I think we will lean on our RB's, which may be better than the 2017 group, and look for a game manager at QB. DONT TURN IT OVER, run the jet sweep and hand it off 250 times and keep it yourself about 50 times.

Got it. I don't think the NCAA is going to be issuing waivers based off covid. That would be going against the conferences that canceled their seasons.

I highly doubt NCAA will grant waivers to players who transfer due to covid

RE: Could FAU and Marshall leverage a high profile P5 QB transfer?
As long as Doc is head coach Marshall will NEVER get a decent QB to transfer. Look at how Doc treated the last two. Thomson made a couple of bad plays and never saw the field again even though Green NEVER showed he was a far superior QB. Birdsong may not have been as good as Litton, but we'll never know he played decent against a couple of good teams had a production drop off and never saw the field again.
