My guess is Shawns inexperience at head coach ...because from a talent standpoint this may arguably be the best team App has ever had offensively
Yeah, we thought the same thing about our talent level going into 2016. It should have been a no brainer, and then Summers happened.
Apps different. They've proven over and over they're impervious to coaching change. Crazy how much disrespect the G5 gets. Coaches are stupid.

No one is impervious. Just ask Nebraska or Tennessee. All it takes is one bad hire to sink a great program.

Correct. App has only had 3 different coaches in the past 20+ years, with the 4th starting this year. After Moore, Satterfield was an insanely good hire and Drink was smart enough not to mess with what was working (looking at you Summers :/). We'll have to see what Clark's impact on the team is, and we'll see this year if Satterfield's impact on the team was the driving force of their recent high level success or if they can sustain it as we get further away from his time. So far, App has shown a propensity to not mess up their coaching hires, at least in football.
In the grand scheme though, pollsters will use any excuse to disregard G5 teams, and the fact App has a new coach this year is enough to do it. Also the "story" is that Drink was the mastermind of what App did last year, ignoring the fact it was basically still a Satterfield team. But I don't think a lot of people understand nuance either.

Please do understand the sarcasm in my post. If Clark keeps the train on the tracks it's happy times for two seasons. If Clark doesn't he could be gone in less than two seasons. This is the new reality. Dynasties at this level are enormously difficult to maintain. Coaches understand that. App fans not so much at the moment. The good news is App will have zero patience for mediocrity and that's the way we like it.

Geez I was being sarcastic. Apps role has been good for all of us. Very good! The question going forward is can we return the favor? History sais we will.
