For The Bold - Done
Success!
Dear Friends,
Today is a historic moment for William & Mary. After nearly a decade of transforming lives, advancing positive change and forging a greater sense of community, today we celebrate the successful conclusion of our For the Bold campaign.
For the Bold has provided an opportunity for us to look beyond the horizon, to push the boundaries of excellence with uncompromising passion and resilience and to be relentless in our pursuit of greatness in everything we do.
Our generous donors — alumni, students, faculty, parents, staff and friends — have galvanized behind William & Mary like never before and helped us achieve what no other university of our size has been able to do: raise $1 billion, solidify our status as the No. 1 public university for alumni participation and strengthen the bonds between alumni and alma mater.
For the Bold has been an extraordinary investment in people. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been raised for scholarships so that exceptional students can flourish at William & Mary. Philanthropy has enabled the university to be innovative rather than simply maintain the status quo.
Our shared sense of purpose has been the driving force for good over the span of our campaign and will continue to be the common thread that binds us long after the conclusion of For the Bold.
Thank you for your generosity, for strengthening the mission and values of the Alma Mater of the Nation and for allowing us to truly be a university for the bold.

Good timing, too. Depending on how the next few months play out, we might need some extra cash to fall back on

Many thought a billion was a difficult stretch. Congrats to the College, our alums, and friends that made
this remarkable fund raising achievement.

I wouldn’t expect to see an updated endowment valuation until the end of August at the earliest. Most Private Investment funds report on a lag, so unless they are going to use estimates it will likely take a couple of months since most endowments are at least 30% private investments now.
