A certain Tulsa poster thinks it isn’t.

I may be biased, but I think SMU vs Navy would be as big if not bigger.

War on I4 has better tv numbers than Tulsa/Houston.

I don’t think we really have a lot of established rivalries yet.

SMU Navy isn’t even played on rivalry week. Also I didn’t even know you guys considered that a rivalry.

We have a long history with Cincy and 20 years or so against Houston. Houston and SMU have their thing. But there isn't the hate that the Florida schools have. For most of us, our biggest natural rivals aren't in this conference. We are in a marriage of convenience. USF-UCF are natural rivals.

no one will mention this but ecu/ucf is likely number #2, ecu has gone completely trash in all sports, but ucf vs ecu used to be toxic when both were decent

Tulsa Wichita is likely #3

tulsa houston isnt a thing at all..houstons "maintained" match-ups as we go division-less is memphis and smu

memphis-cincy dont play enough in football--never good at the same time in basketball
houston-smu have never been good at the same time in any sport so not much fuel there
smu/navy is not a rivalry-- its a trophy game . i consider it more a tradition than rivalry

Houston/Navy is constantly put on rivalry week..the conference/network want it to be a rivaly because it draws numbers but its not

houston/cincy in basketball..houston/memphis in football is budding but to young to call it a rivalry

ECU vs. itself seems to be a pretty big rivalry as well. We just can’t get out of our own way.

Thank you. I don’t understand how it’s so hard to grasp that UCF usf is really the only nationally relevant rivalry in the conference.

I would say Tulsa Wichita is up there, but we are talking football rivalries, that's what Braveknight got his panties in a wad about.

Memphis vs. Cincy is a more consequential rivalry right about now, in FB & MBB.

If you asked anyone outside of the AAC what the in-conference rivalries are, I suspect UCF vs USF would be the only one the vast majority could list.

2. Navy has played SMU 21 times (second most in AAC, behind Tulane)
3. Navy's Thanksgiving weekend AAC opponents: SMU in '16; Houston in '15,'17,'19; Tulane in '18. None in 2020, with odd number of conference members.

+2. Exactly, we have been our own worst enemy. Pirates vs Pirates should be our new big Pirate Club fundraising campaign.

As a Memphis and Cincy fan, I'm biased. But in hoops, I would choose UM vs. UC. If anything, I point to the Elite Eight game in the mid-1990s, when Cincy beat Memphis a fourth time that season to go to the Final Four. That was a nationally relevant game between two programs that retain some heft to this day. Then there is the "Louisville element" that adds to the UC vs. UM rivalry. Lots of history and tradition with those three, going back to the Missouri Valley Conference. Again, I'm biased. So many will disagree.

In football ... tough call. the UCF vs. USF rivarly is a good one.

Obviously, the biggest rivalry that involves an American member (in any sport) is Army vs. Navy in football. Not even close.
