The Blazers have won Conference USA’s West Division title in back-to-back years, so it may seem strange to list coach Bill Clark’s team in this space. But consider this: After winning the C-USA title in 2018, UAB had to replace more than 30 players and returned only eight starters for ’19. And if those two obstacles weren’t enough, the Blazers watched quarterback Tyler Johnston III and running back Spencer Brown miss time due to injuries last season. Despite all of those obstacles, Clark’s squad managed to win nine games and earned a trip to the C-USA title game versus FAU.
