Ohio is a strong team, but 2003 National Champs? I thought it was a California team/LSU standoff. If you are going to smack, at least get it correct.

WOW....such anger and frustration on our board. I doubt they would add all three though all three would constitute stronger programs for the league than three MAC schools.
As for the west I think it would be the stronger division over time. All the real national powers the league has had historically are in the west. You can't expect them to stay down.
Coach hatfield said the other day on KILT you would be able to drive to the new addition so IF he is accurate it will be either La tech or UNT. But who knows in this day and time.

Even USL/ULL identity crisis university can't make up their mind what they want to be called. When they beat Texas A&M in 1996 and yes I was there. A&M wasn't ranked. USL/ULL has never been ranked. Marshall has been ranked 4 times since entering I-A again including a Top 10 ranking in both polls in 1999. Let me see here Marshall played 4 Top 20 teams last year, including K-STATE & Tennessee, how many did you play. Now go back to your lil think tank and try to find something else for me to shoot down.

I doubt if Marshal will ever have a ranked team again, you guys have been winning with a team full of props school all the while racking up over 150 infractions. If the CUSA has any academic backbone then your prop machine will grind to a halt.

Hide and watch my friend Hide and watch
Marshall has a QB waiting in the wings right now that said to have a Byron Leftwich arm, and be Chad Pennington accurate.
We also just got Marcus Fitgerald, if you have no idea who that is maybe ya know is older brother WR Larry
We picked up a guy that was looking at Micihgan St and others, Lindsey is a 3 half start RB with 4.5 speed
And we just got a late Verbal after signing day that had interst from USC and Washington. He's considered the 31st best RB in the country.
:snore: Wanna put a dollar down on that bet. Because if you live in Lafayette I can collect real fast. Because I don't live but 6 miles away.

NT has the nations top rusher last year in Patrick Cobbs returning for his senior year. We recruited Jamario Thomas, a 4.3 rb who was ranked 21st in the US by Rivals...a 3 star player and the 2nd ranked RB in Texas. Another RB recruited had the most yardage of any team in Texas HS's last year in 5- A. (the largest school classification)
We lost only two starters from our offense.
NT signed a 3 star CB from Coffeyville who was ranked # 58th JC player in American and the LB from NEO that led the Jayhawk conference in tackles last year. He will team up with the All American JC Tackle from NEO that NT signed last year..that decommitted from a Big 8 team to sign with NT.
NT also has added Beau Davidson, a 6-4, 240 TE that sat out last season after transferring from Syracuse who will probably be our # 1 TE with 3 years elgibility.
NT's signing class was so much improved that a lineman from a Northern Texas HS that wanted to come to NT was not offerred a ship and then was signed by a Big 8 team.
Spring practice has started with 108 players on the field which doesn't include the 18 new signees. 40 walk-ons are trying out for the team.

Pretty good class for UNT, NT Old Timer.
What may surprise some on this board is that the state of Texas has almost 160,000 young men who play Texas high school football.
A Texas HS product who might be a 3'rd team or honorary all state player at at Texas 5A high school may be in some other state's Top 50 best high school talent.
There are no recruiting services who could afford a staff to scout out every Texas HS senior from 1A thru 5A classifications. Rivals surely cannot cover that many HS kids.

** Too many Texas schools? Texas has 2 Top 10 TV markets, 20,000,000 population and at one other time an almost 100 year old league had 8 Texas schools in it, ie, the Southwest Conference. Sure it folded, but still was around for almost a century!
** Anyone wanting to compile a map of this league--Go for it!
So.......If in the near future if CUSA were to lose members, as in 1 or 2 members to the Big East (A CUSA favorite) or MWC (like-wise)--you are still at 12 or 13 members.
But a 13 member conference? Yes, an odd number but the Big 10 has 11 members FWIW.
This should clinch it for me in the poll, eh?
VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE!:)
Just wanted to bring back the original theme of this thread. (I know, I digress as much as anyone)
