Just saw that the football schedule was posted on tulsahurricane.com today!
<a href='http://tulsahurricane.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/022404aaa.html' target='_blank'>News Release and Schedule</a>
Here's a reprint for the left-click challenged:
9/4 @Kansas
9/11 @Oklahoma State
9/18 Navy (6:00pm)
9/25 SW Missouri State (6:00pm)
10/2 @Hawaii
10/16 Boise State (Homecoming - time TBA)
10/23 @Nevada
10/30 Rice (time TBA)
11/6 @SMU
11/13 @La Tech
11/20 San Jose State (2:00pm)
11/27 UTEP (2:00pm)
Scheduling Boise State for Homecoming? How's that for cajones?
Great road trip opportunities this year!! Easy to get to Lawrence, Stillwater and Dallas, and Ruston isn't too bad either (8-9 hr drive).
And if you're like me, you can't wait until we replace San Jose and UTEP with Tulane and Houston.
Here's to 2004!

Nothing like home field advantage to close out the season when a conference championship is on the line.

I'm hoping the Homecoming game is going to deteremine the conference champion. Then at least it's at home and maybe a good crowd for homecoming so we have every advantage we can have against Boise. You can't say Coach K picked a lightweight for an easy win, like SWMS. He must want as much emotion as possible!!!!

"This isn't a horrible schedule, but its very possible the Golden Hurricane could start off 1-6. The problem after the rough beginning might be the three road games before finally getting a breath with San Jose State and UTEP coming to Tulsa. It's a must that there aren't any home slip-ups, and that includes the Boise State game.
Nastiest Road Game: at Oklahoma State
Cupcake: SW Missouri St
Make or Break Game: Rice"
They also list Tulsa as the nastiest road game for Boise St.
and then their spring preview:
"Spring Practice Starts: March 2 Spring Game: April 3
What needs working on ... The run defense. After the performance against Georgia Tech in the Humanitarian Bowl, the Golden Hurricane's biggest issue was exploited once again. It's not like the WAC (outside of Rice) is full of great rushing teams, so there's no excuse for the Golden Hurricane to have so many problems.
The most important position to watch is ... Running back. QB James Kilian might be the team's best runner, but a back needs to emerge to take the place of Eric Richardson and his 811 yards and 12 touchdowns from last year. Uril Parrish is a quick, small back who provided a nice change of pace last year, but he's going to have to play more of a role.
Spring attitude... Keeping the love going. Yeah, the last time we saw Tulsa it was getting destroyed in the Humanitarian Bowl, but that loss to Georgia Tech shouldn't diminish the great season the team had. The program has to keep working to try and keep the positive winning attitude that worked so well last year, and head coach Steve Kragthorpe has to keep his team believing it can succeed."
At least nobody but us has inflated expectations.
