Brian's Song
Marx Brothers' "Horse Feathers"- some of most
comedic football scenes ever.

RE: What are the best sports movies of all time?
Since not many wrestling movies listed, I will pick up the only ones that are worth a view. Provided some info on the movies

Foxcatcher - Far and away best wrestling movie made. highly rated. Already mentioned in this thread. Definitely a top sports movie pick. Based on a true story involving Foxcatcher Wrestling club founded by John DuPont and Olympic champion wrestlers Dave and Mark Schultz.

Vision Quest - soundtrack and final match against John Shute are the highlights of the movie. Matthew Modine does a credible job of portraying a high school wrestler cutting weight to face a returning state champ rather than stay up a weight for an easy route to a state championship. Red Rider's "Lunatic Fringe" playing as he warms up for the big match is a classic and many high schools still play this movie at the start of the season to inspire their teams. Hopefully can find this re-digitized since it was from 1985.

Win-Win. One of my favorites only because it stars a young actor that was a New Jersey state wrestling champion as a junior, but forced to quit wrestling because of neck injury that cost him a repeat championship as a senior. Makes it believable when it comes to the somewhat limited wrestling scenes. Good story, good actors - I liked it.

American Wrestler - The Wizard. Relatively new (2016) and virtually unheard of. About an Iranian immigrant teenager set in 1979/1980 forced out of Iran by the revolution and eventually finds his way trying to fit in as a member of the HS wrestling team.

Pinned - not sure this qualifies as a wrestling movie since it is primarily a documentary film about the Lakewood St. Edward (Ohio) wrestling program and Lance and Collin Palmer, both 4x state champions - and their father. (an example is when they talk about not allowing them as kids to open Christmas presents until they got their workouts in). Includes interviews and footage featuring many high school coaches, including Clay's Ralph Cubberly and St. Paris Graham's Jeff Jordan. Gives a whole new perspective on the sport for those not familiar with wrestling - and that perspective may not be especially good for many - depends on your perspective.

Hoop Dreams.

Siskel and Ebert both named it the best movie of 1994.

I saw "Undefeated" on Netflix. Not great art or anything but enjoyed it. Miracle and Beyond the Lights are there.

For History buffs
Leni Riefenstahl:Olympia - Festival of Nations (1936)

Anyone seen "Unbroken?" Recommended or time filler?

I've never seen Take Down. Heard about it, but never thought to look for it. Maybe now I will.

The one that I have seen and just had to go look it up because I forgot the name is "Dangal". I would highly recommend this wrestling movie. It's about a former wrestler in India that was unsuccessful in making it to the Olympic podium, but turned to coaching. After he was blessed with 2 daughters, but no sons - he decided to teach them to wrestle. And they became international champions. Can't remember if it is in English or just closed captioned. From Bollywood.

Very good movie and accurately based on a true story.
