38 have died from Corona (23 of which came from a single nursing home in Washington).

One of these 2 is not like the other. It's not hard to connect the dots.
So you are comparing a year's worth of data for the swine flu to s couple of weeks of the Corona virus? If anything the swine flu should show exactly how quickly a virus can spread.

Swine flu had a vaccine

It still killed a number of people over a number of years

Death from swine flu was relatively low, I believe around .01%, maybe .1%

By the time it hit the US, we instituted a lot of precautions, but it was known

The proper worries about Corona is that the death rate is MUCH higher and we still don’t know enough about it such that spreading of this could be worse. Look at Italy. A similar growth here now would have hundreds of thousands sick fairly quickly

We were more prepared in 2009, as pandemic research and similar had not been slashed like today

The unknown and the incompetence make avoiding large crowds a wise move. Things move fast and now that the scientists are allowed to do their work and tell the truth, we may know enough that in a few weeks we can get back to relative normal

I don’t think so. This is not the 2008 financial crisis where financial institutions failed. Investors are selling because of various reasons ‘how long this virus will make a impact’....’this company does heavy business in Italy’...etc. The banking industry and financial institutions are still strong and everyone is just waiting to get back doing business as usual.

No, I'm saying when Americans started dying from the swine flu, where was the outrage? Where was the NBA and NCAA cancelling seasons? It got all the way up to over 12,00 deaths in one year and no one cancelled anything. And people like you weren't freaking our here and calling for anything to be cancelled.

Yet after 38 American deaths (23 in a single nursing home), here you are. And here is the NCAA, NBA, etc. going apeshit.

It's ludicrous.

You're right.

It's time to fight fire with fire since moderation has made it clear that they don't care.

Don’t be a jerk

Simply reading and conveying

Another reason this is different

US coronavirus cases over the last week

3/4 - 159 cases
3/5 - 227 cases
3/6 - 331 cases
3/7 - 444 cases
3/8 - 564 cases
3/9 - 728 cases
3/10 - 1,000 cases
3/11 - 1,267 cases

Relatively small number
Really fast growth, worries the **** out of the experts, which is who we are presenting

Coronavirus is different. Cases doubling every three days. One in five hospitalized, and one in five of them end up in ICU. Hospitals may fill up and medical staff contracting the virus could leave many without care.
