MAC and Big West Conferences announce...
they will play their tournaments with no fans in the arena. I assume this won't be necessary for the Sun Belt Tournament since no one shows up in New Orleans anyway.

The NCAA announced a couple of days ago that things will go on as planned with regard to the NCAA Tournament. They now say they are continuing to "study" the situation. I think there is a reasonable chance the games will be played with no fans in the arena. A packed arena is like a petri dish for a virus. I am now beginning to think there is a fairly good chance the games will be played in empty arenas. It would be weird, but this way the NCAA would still get the TV revenue.

The Ohio governor and State officials are asking the NCAA to hold closed sporting events in Ohio moving forward. Of course, the First Four is scheduled in Dayton, as always. Cleveland is hosting first/second round games. The Governor had Biden and Bernie cancel their rallies in Cleveland. This is going to get really interesting in the next few days.

Closer to home Vandy cancelled all classes this week and all in-person classes, at least, until the end of the month. They also stopped concession sales at baseball and other sports events.

The country is getting ready to shelter and delay to slow the spread to not overwhelm the medical system.

I think we still have way more danger from the flu. But public officials cannot afford to be accused of not reacting, so by the nature of their jobs they are forced always to overkill. Just the nature of things.

Take a minute and read up on the flu epidemic of 1918. Now THAT was a problem.
