Wichita wins tomorrow at home and UC is the one seed.

Get the one seed and we are officially playing for a higher seed in the NCAAs.

Tie breaker says win loss record, head to head, then record against next best team in conference where we would beat Houston vs. Tulsa (1-0 vs. 1-1). So we are no worse than 2 seed going into tomorrow per the way I read this.

If Houston and Tulsa both win UC is the 3.

Tulsa loses and UC is the 1.

Tulsa wins and Houston loses UC is the 2.

They don’t count uneven number of games. Because of this, the tiebreaker with just Houston would go all the way down to Tulane where Houston would win because they are 1-0 against the Green Wave and UC is 0-1

RE: AAC Tourney
I don't think 2 or 3 seed matters much (unless one of them has to play Memphis).

1 seed is huge because it avoids Houston until the championship game.

If we get the 1 seed, could you see Cumberland being held out of most of the first game, hoping he can then gut it out through the semifinals and finals?

Like that idea a lot.

Hopefully let him play enough to work up a sweat and get a feel for the rims and background at the arena. Them put him in street clothes on the bench if at all possible just so he's not tempted and CJB isn't either

RE: AAC Tourney
Depends of which bracketologists you believe.

If you believe we have to win the conference tournament to get in the NCAA, I would roll the dice and play Cumberland little or not at all in the opening game.

If you believe 1 or 2 wins will get us in the NCAAs, then I would play him a bunch in the first two games and not worry if any gas is still in the tank for the championship game.

I really have no idea right now which is true or if we are somewhere in between.

I just don't think that is how this team operates. We all saw how much the Senior night starting lineup screwed with this team. This team is very sensitive to lineup changes. It took them 30 minutes in Tampa to figure out how to play without Jarron. I would say either play him or not.

RE: AAC Tourney
I’d like to see UConn knockoff Wichita in the quarters. I know UConn in March can be tough but they will be playing their third game in three days and I believe due to injury they are down to 7 scholarship players. And it will essentially knock Wichita out. I’m afraid the committee may just look at that potential UC-Wichita game as a play in game.

I agree with your logic regarding UCONN on third day legs. I'm not sure the committee would consider UC vs. Wichita a play-in game. We're pretty close to the action and with all their data I wonder if the selection committee would really look that closely at a single game in the American? A loss to WSU and we're 2-1 against the Shockers with a much better schedule profile still.

I agree it took them 30 minutes to figure it out in Tampa but that was also after game planning to have Jarron as part of the rotation and then having to deal with the last minute loss. In this scenario, if I'm CJB I plan and practice as if we "know" Jarron isn't available for the 1st game. IMO the team proved in Tampa they can play without Jarron if they have to, and would probably be a more difficult team to defend as UCF/USF couldn't just concentrate on Jarron.

As we advance beyond that game, I don't believe that strategy works nearly as well for obvious purposes.
