Mainly the elderly with pre-existing health problems, kind of like, the common flu.

Okay, Don. Mortality rate for the flu is .1%, for the coronavirus it’s 3.4%. Do we not care about old people and sick people?

I care about old and sick people but maybe a better course of action would be to recommend anyone over 80 who has recently had chemotherapy should not attend the MAC tournament. That would be called a PROPORTIONAL response

Ah yes because certainly nobody who attends the MAC tournament will come in contact with elderly family members anytime soon

Okay that is a good point, but the people who are having troubles with this virus in terms of death are ones with a compromised immune system to begin with. I am guessing loved ones are already aware of this are not kissing them every hour to begin with when considering that risk

The 3.4% mortality rate is the percentage of those that have tested positive. Since about 80% of the people that are infected with Covid 19 experience only mild symptoms they are more than likely not being tested, and thus not part of the denominator in the equation. The actual death rate is probably less than 1%, which will probably prove out over time as they build better statistical models. That is still almost 10 times greater than the mortality rate for the flu, so it is not to be taken lightly. Social distancing worked in some cities with the Spanish flu in 1918, and that is what some of the preventive measures are based upon (e.g. cancelling events where people may gather and spread the virus). Of course that was 100 years ago and the world is a much smaller place today with the ease of travel both locally and internationally. Short of confining everyone to their homes for two weeks, folks need to be smart. Wash your hands and avoid the risk of getting and/or spreading the infection!

It could be as low as 0.2 or 0.3 percent. Washing hands, prudent. Elderly staying away from events, prudent. Shutting down society over this minimal threat, not prudent

RE: 2020 MAC Tourney Preview
The Ivy League cancelled its tournament: https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/pu...tournament
The Ohio Gov. asked that indoor sporting events only be attended by athletes, parents and “others essential to the game.”
One would think other conferences are at least discussing it.
Is it necessary? I have no idea and would go with what the experts say.

I think you put finger on the problem, there are no experts without agendas anymore

They just didn't play better; but they were better!
Seriously hilarious.
And MM is “coaching” better this year.
Prediction: His “coaching” will be worse next year.
Yea I think his coaching prowess is directly proportional to the number of Eugene Germans he has on his team.
He's had the exact amount of Eugene Germans on the team for the past 4 years and some are suggesting that this years Eugene German isn't as good as last years Eugene German.
Many of those same observers have noted that this year's Darius Beane and Tyler Cochrane are not as good as last year's Levi Bradley and Dante Thorpe.

Miami's too!!!
Let's not act like 1) any of the MAC schools play in front of sold out arenas and 2) the MAC Tournament regularly packs in the crowds.

There’s no way this is anything but a positive for NIU. Completely eliminates any real crowd advantage for Akron or BG.
