Another point of pride for a historic top twenty program.

I still don't think UC appropriately displays our considerable history in 5th/3rd Arena. Every visitor--every recruit should see a wall of fame displaying in one place this amazing history.

For instance, it would be cool if their was a big picture of Nick van Exel, with a video screen showing his top ten or so career UC moments on a loop. Then a feet yards later was a similar thing for Kenyon Martin, Oscar Robinson, etc.

The arena renovation killed off any semblance of tradition and basketball accomplishment. UC has never been great at selling themselves but the banners, all american wall, and those large player cutouts hanging from the concourse still told a story. Now there is almost nothing.

Excellent idea--there is so much that could be done. An interactive history display should also serve to educate visiting media and draw some video coverage bumping into commercial breaks for ESPN.

Our win total and top ranking for schools with the most weeks in the A.P. are just two of many distinctions that few programs can touch. I'm still not convinced our national championships are displayed prominently enough in those decorative light boxes on the south wall. The tradition is physical banners. But maybe I'm just old school in that regard.

I think sacrifices had to be made doing our renovation with an existing footprint and tying to add concourses/restrooms/concessions. It'd be nice to have a little bit more availability to display history but I'm okay with the decisions that were made. I feel like if you're in the arena an you see the 2 national titles/6 final 4s/ conference titles that you know you're at a program with a rich history.

They could always do promotional/season ticket giveaways since space is limited. Career highlight DVDs, last season/historical season recap dvds, special appearances like the ‘92 reunion, a bobblehead series of All-Americans. The greatest moments ticket stubs were nice.

Oops. I have recently lost all vision out of the right side of each eye and I tend to miss things like this these days.

My sincere apologies to Oscar, the GOAT.

I recently spoke to the AD about a virtual banner video board. Take down the current confusing displays and put it up where the old banners were displayed. It could be about the size of the old national championship banners. It could display various banners throughout the game (that mimicked the old banners) and at time outs it could show the banner and then highlights of that game/season. Its default could display national championships, final fours, and sweet sixteens.

I guess I'm old school and just like banners. The old shoe had its flaws, but did a much better job of displaying our history.
