RE: WBB vs North Texas
66-65 Rice with 20 seconds left. Potentially big FT miss by Smith which would have made it a two possession game...UNT comes right down for a quick layup to make it a one point game.

23.7 on the scoreboard. Rice inbounds as the bench was calling for a timeout. 23.5 on the clock. Wiggins at the line after getting fouled.

RE: WBB vs North Texas
Schwartz commits a foul with 11 seconds, UNT player misses both...and UNT gets the OREB. Another Rice foul, UNT splits them, and Rice will be inbounding up 1 with 9 seconds. What a cluster of an end to a game.

...And Rice wins. Not pretty at times but winning ugly is better than losing ugly. 33 and 12 for Ogwumike and some really big minutes by Chrisman.

A perfectly timed really high leap to deflect the shot when the ball was well away from the shooter's hand. Fabulous!!

I agree. She really helped stabilize the game on defense and offense.

Erica had a career high 33 points...she could have been the player of the game.

Asst comments:
-amazing amazing game by Erica. 33 points scored is just a fraction of what she did in this game-u had to be there. A total beast.
-Chrisman was really solid. Never quite understand how she went from a starter pre-Mulkey to totally buried on the bench
-Crosswaith, first time I saw her, provided quite the spark
-Destiny, who I had thought had made some solid contributions seems to be in the dog house
-Hayley never saw the court, last year I thought she would be a player, but she and Smith seem to be having sophomore slumps
-Schwartz just got ran over several times, gotta toughen up
-Mulkey was not on the bench-thought that was odd
-pretty clear that last year's graduates are really missed.

But overall, the team pulled together despite getting behind double digits twice and showed some real grit battling back

They're #265 in Massey's ratings and had lost six consecutive games coming into this one. Mulkey really makes a difference; in the game against them in Denton earlier this season, Rice scored about the same number of points as in this game (helped by Mulkey's 21) but gave up 14 fewer.

RE: WBB vs North Texas
Rice and Erica mentioned in ESPN article.
Quote:Which players whose teams aren't expected to make the tournament have had big seasons under the radar?

Hays: By strict definition, sitting in second place in Conference USA and with little hope of an at-large bid at the moment, Rice isn't expected to make the NCAA tournament. But it would be nice to get Rice and Western Kentucky (currently in first place and a stronger at-large candidate) in the field because Erica Ogwumike deserves the big stage. Entirely on her own merits, without regard to her last name, the senior is one of the best players in the country who isn't playing in a Power 5 conference.

About that last name: The 5-foot-9 guard remains the best inch-for-inch rebounder in her family, averaging a double-double this season and double-digit rebounds in her three seasons with the Owls. She's currently averaging better than 20 points and 12 rebounds in conference games.

Ogwumike had 22 points and eight rebounds in an overtime loss against Marquette in the first round of last year's NCAA tournament, her tournament debut. She deserves an encore.

Maybe they meant ODU?
