Nothing says college football like Wednesday night football. This hurts season ticket sales at both App and Stink and obviously the gameday crowds.

Until some stud recruit says “I fell in love with App when I saw them play during the week” I’m not going to buy the “great exposure” take.

And the amount of people that get to watch those games are going to be 10 fold what they would be on Saturday.

The amount of people that will watch the game on Wednesday is probably 3x more than on Thursdays too. The Sun Belt's highest rated game was App@UL on Wednesday last year. Quite a bit higher than GS@App on Thrusday.

195k for GS@App on Thursday
543K for App@UL on Wednesday

Yeah, that’s because E2 will always outdraw EU. Not sure your point here.

Its on 2 cause its on Wednesday. If it was on Thursday it'd be on U. Ergo, Wednesday gets you more viewers.

ESPN really loves them some GS-App.

YosefsCabin is having their predictable meltdown over the schedule. I think getting away with 1 weeknight game is great. It being on ESPN2 is great.

Has the person who used to do the SoCon’s schedule become the Sun Belt’s scheduler? Just like that conference we now have the 3 toughest conference opponents in consecutive weeks.

We used to have Wofford/Furman/GaSouthern in consecutive weeks. Now it’s Louisiana/GaSouthern/Ark State in 17 days.

Unreal how this keeps happening.

RE: 2020 Sunbelt Football Schedules
I could see Troy going 7-0 in the first half of the schedule. Pine Bluff and UMASS to start the season is almost certainly a 2-0 start. NCSTATE is not very good at all, so I could see a win in Troy. Next up is South Alabama and Texas State. South is always a toss up so who knows, but we seemed to handle them well last season. We have Texas State's number and have had no trouble with them at all. ULM and Georgia State are without their all-world quarterbacks which makes 7-0 seem very reachable. The back five is a nasty stretch of games, but I think we get back above .500 this season.

A dozen? Two dozen? I'd say under.

I said 14k in our board and 8k for the South Alabama game and was called crazy for it

Guilty as charged.....04-cheers

We've usually been between 22-24K for any Appy game since we expanded the stadium? Going from Thursday to Wednesday is not going to make us lose 8K people.

Same thing for USA. We are not going to cut our average attendance in more than half just because of the UF-uga game. We will absolutely lose some fans to the game, but not more than half our usual attendance.

That game is also on Halloween though. That means trick or treating for our families and Halloween parties for our students. Combine that with Georgia-Florida and frat beach happening within driving distance of us and it’s doubtful South Alabama is enough to pull them all away from that.

Two month-long stretches without a home game AND two trips to Alabama in 5 days. ULM got screwed.

AState:

Sept 5 @ Memphis
Sept 12 vs Howard
Sept 19 @ Michigan
Sept 26 vs Tulsa
Oct 3 @ Coastal
Oct 15 vs Georgia State (thurs)
Oct 24 @ App State
Oct 31 vs Troy
Nov 5 @ UL
Nov 14 vs ULM
Nov 21 @ Texas State
Nov 28 vs South Alabama

Not too bad. First time in school history we rotate home and road games. No 2 game trips or home stands

Riiiiiiight ... that's what I was saying. Having those two games on Wednesday means a lot more people will watch the "two best games" in the Sun Belt this season.

Shocker, we got absolutely ass raped by the conference again. As if our schedule wasn’t hard enough. And a bye week 2.

To add insult to injury, every team in the SBC has a short turn around game (Saturday/Thursday). Other than ULM, every team is either home on Saturday and travels for Thursday or on the road Saturday and hosts Thursday. ULM is on the road at Troy on Saturday and then has to travel to USA for Thursday. That means early Sunday morning arrival home, work all day for coaches to break down film and prep. Players get Sunday afternoon, Monday and Tuesday for film, practice, rehab, etc before having to go on the road Wednesday. The fact that no one at the SBC even looked at that schedule and said "hang on" is beyond me. Would love to hear the BS excuse our commissioner would have for this cluster.

I'm with you. I'm fine with only 1 weeknight game. Especially since it is on ESPN2 & the only game on that night.

That ULM schedule is certainly not ideal, but I think South's schedule might be rougher. In the last 5 game they have @GS, @Coastal, @UL, GSU, @StAte. At least their bye is in early October, though. That week 2 bye for ULM is useless.

6 road games in 7 weeks will is absolute BS. Even coming off our Thursday game to get a couple days rest is for a home game, not a road game. This will get players hurt or keep them hurt because you lose practice, conditioning and, most importantly, treatment.

RE: 2020 Sunbelt Football Schedules
the conference office should let the fanbase of one school vote on and choose the schedule for all 10 teams in the conference. this way, at least the majority of one fanbase will be pleased with the schedules as opposed to all fanbases being ticked off.

hail southern
