At least UB fills up there 6500 seat Alumni Arena from time to time, and it looks good on TV...
For a team that has made the NCAA tourny 4 out of the last 5 years, their attendance has not been very good.
They only have 1 crowd over 6,000 this year (same as UT).
19-20 3,469
18-19 5,290 (NCAA tourny)
17-18 2,839 (NCAA tourny)
16-17 3,613
15-16 3,243 (NCAA tourny)
14-15 3,639 (NCAA tourny)

LOL. Whitmer's capacity is only 8,000.
My point being - Whitmer=8,000 fans > Several MAC schools=6,000 plus on a good day...
Maybe I should have clarified that some Texas high schools draw more than a lot of G5 schools (especially some MAC schools and also that fan base that fills that TINY Whitmer Stadium).

OU used to have large crowds for basketball and recently drew well for football.
Someday Toledo will take advantage of their large crowds and rock an undefeated home season in route to a tourney berth

RE: MAC Men's Basketball Home Attendance
I think the 5 best fanbases in basketball are Ohio, Toledo, BSU, UB and Akron. Kent travels well to Cleveland for the tourney and has experienced a decent amount of success, but crowds I've seen there usually hover around 4,500. That gym is dumpy.
In football the list is tougher to gauge because success carries more weight. I think CMU is a top 5 fanbase when their team is good. WMU, Ohio and Toledo are the other shoe ins. NIU should have great support but they always have the most unfavorable home schedule in the league and their fan base isn't in Dekalb. Really no one else draws well consistently. Miami travels well to a place like Toledo which has a lot of alums. We havent played there in so long, I don't know what their stadium looks like full. BGsucks could fall on the list when their team is successful? I can't see BSU, Kent or Akron drawing over 20,000 ever....

I thought NIU raised a ton of money to enlarge their stadium and eventually leave the MAC (Big 12?).

The five biggest basketball crowds this year at the EMU Convocation Center this year were for the defending state high school champs, Ypsilanti Lincoln and their star Emoni Bates. MAC basketball, hashtag joke.
