Our coach shows ZERO emotion. Emphasis on defense is a plus but I'm not at all impressed with his game management, ability to light a fire under our players, or (as of this moment) recruiting. What could've been.

Watch his post game interview. You could tell he was trying to hold back laughter a couple of times and then he did laugh when he was asked how they could have diffused the full court press. I guess he thought it was laughable. My emotion would have been frustration with some anger mixed in.
I liked the part when he talked about UNCW having great athletes (I guess we don't have great athletes).
He may not be wrong.
One thing that sort of smacked me upside the head, on the Thursday night FloSports broadcast, was a comment by the Charleston Color Analyst during the Tribe's second half drive to make a comeback attempt.
The analyst was a former Cougar player and was, truth be told, fairly solid in his observations, all game long.
During the comeback attempt, he said (
paraphrasing, a bit, here) "One thing we don't have to worry about, on defense, is that, other than Knight, William & Mary does not really have anyone who is athletic enough to beat
any of our guys off the dribble. That means we don't have to help off on anybody on D." "As long as our guys stay in front of their man, they will have trouble getting in the paint and will also have trouble passing, because every one still has some one guarding them (
no double teams) on the perimeter."
That statement just hit me up side the head. Boom!
So, while I think Dane is doing a solid job, in his first year, he still has a lot to learn and he, and his staff, still have a
big job ahead of him to get more Nathan Knights and Chase Audiges (minus the controlling parents...) into the program.
