MyBB Boogie not handling the ball and Precious having only two shots in the 2nd half
Boogie should have had the ball in his hands for crunch time and Precious HAS to have more than two shots in the 2nd half!

I didnt even bother listening to the post game show.

There is nothing he can say that can excuse taking the ball out of the players who were producing handsA and putting the ball in ALo and Tyler's hands. ALo finished 2/8 from the field 0/1 from 3. Tyler 2/7 1/4. On top, neither could stop their men from taking it to them.

His only 2 shots came after the stole the ball. One on a breakaway dunk and the other on a desperate 3 in last moments of the game.

Double teams may have caused that, ya think?

This is why I mentioned the need to run Precious off more picks to put the opposition in more compromising positions and to get more favorable matchups for him to take advantage of.

If Alo was a threat from the perimeter teams wouldn't be able to sag on Precious and would pay a price when utilizing the pick with the pg and big....

While I agree with the concept of running the high screen with an actual shooter.

I have no problem with Boogie not having the ball at the end. He has been shaky at best for a month. Other guys have gotten it done before, you don't bail on them because a guy has made some shots tonight.

If Boogie's improvements are sustained of course he should be the man at the end.

We just have no point guard that is a threat offensively. In just under 50 minutes of play, Alo, Baugh and Harris combined for 11 points on 5-16 shooting. We are not going to win much when that’s our production from our two veteran guards and the athletic freshman guard.

Need to ride or die with the freshmen for the rest of the year. 1. It prepares them for next year. 2. It impresses recuits if they are thriving. Recruits are watching them.

Player freedom to run plays means you need a player/coach (typically the pg) to run the show doo this doesn't happen.

If you're going to have small guards leading the way, a Kemba type would be ideal.

High-low is a time-tested solution to defeating a zone. PH ran an effective high-low at East with MD & JW. He could do the same with MD & PA - but NO, we have 5'9" guards attempting entry passes or dribbling, dribbling, dribbling around the perimeter, then forcing up contested shots. An effective high-low also produces open perimeter shots to set shooters. I've made my last road trip to Memphis for this crap until I see something that looks like coaching - and playing guys who have the potential to actually grow (Baugh, Boogie).

I think it has been established that Penny is being stubborn sticking to the four out 1 in strategy. Without shooters are high level guards who can create off the dribble that is not going to work.

The strength of this team is the front court but at times the offfensive philosophy is keeping them from shining because they cant get the ball.

Well DJ can...Which I don't understand why he doesn't get more touches at the top of the key to start the offense. Especially when the other team is not in a zone.

Boogie came out of the game holding his hand in pain and the trainer started working on it. I can't remember how much playing time he got after that if any.
So many great coaches on this board with so many different ways Coach P should coach and who should play. This board is actually getting very comical.

Boogie came out of the game to have the tape on his wrist replaced. He was hit hard going to the basket & it had pulled the tape loose which he attempted to re-secure while on the floor but couldn't. I sit 24 rows behind the bench, easy to see. Nothing apparent about pain as he was getting re-taped.

And BTW when a team like SMU's whole offense is to shoot at the perimeter, it doesn't take rocket science to know you don't defend with 5'9" sloughing guards on the perimeter.

Thanks Coach Atlanta. I will remember what you said when the next opposing player hits 3's over DJ like yesterday. SMU started out not hitting 3's. I think they were 3 of 19 the first half and 8 of 14 the second half. The total game stats show SMU 11/34 for 32% and we were 9/20 for 45 % but those 2 extra made 3's were the deference in the game and us having 6 or 7 TO's in the last 6 minutes.

Except for one contested 3 (a great shot) where the shooter was set, all of the others were from a set shooter who received a cross - court pass & shot over a sloughing defender running at him. And in most cases it was one of our short guards. And BTW, if you didn't notice we lost due to those 3s in the 2nd half while we were experimenting line-ups & not scoring at all.
