I can't remember anyone that was "Student Friendly" during my days at Ole Miss. It was like us against them! :bang:

Yeah, there was an overabundance of those uptight types. I remember dreading any interface with university officialdom. Chancellor Fortune was always pleasant, though.

I recall J D Williams' name. His name went on the library, didn't it? Another nice higher-up was Dr. Bryant, the vice-chancellor.

John Davis Williams was the Chancellor when I first arrived at Ole Miss. He was Chancellor for 22 years. 1946-1968.

how long was Fortune chancellor? 68 to sometime in 80s? Never was too impressed with Turner. Seemed a nice guy, but the campus' appearance really went downhill on his watch. They forgot how to landscape or keep lawns, etc. Looked hideous at one point.

Did you ever have Dr. Chambliss for any courses? He taught a class called Tests and Measurements (Math course in the Phy. Ed. Dept.). He was "THE" biggest jerk I ever had for an instructor.

Dr. Gene Peery was our fraternities faculty advisor - a great guy but a "no-nonsense" accounting professor. Was "Tteacher of the Year" several times. He a wonderful sense of humor and an all round good guy - socially. He would always say, "This test is going to fry your bag...well, not any of you female students!"

I do recall the name. My roomie was taking calculus and math courses, so I bet he had him at some point.

You remember Toby Wallace, the political sci. prof? He was real casual, wore long hair, jeans. Great guy. Everybody wanted in his classes.

What was the older "hippie type" ladies name that taught Greek and Roman Mythology? Always had a back-pack, wire-rimmed glasses? They say she used to have some of her select students over to her house and they would "fire one up!"

Yeah, I can picture that lady. She definitely was an 'earthy' type. You recall those twin sisters who had a physical ailment and walked like they were marching?

I remember Dr Peery. I had Dr. Taylor for acctg, and then some guy I forget who gave me an 'F' in summer school 2nd yr. acctg. So I didn't pursue acctg any further. That would have been a good living if I could've applied myself. :bang:

If he was a red-headed guy that looked sorta like tweety bird, it was Jimmy Davis.

Not familiar. Seems he was a blonde haired youngish guy. Hard ******. Expected you to actually learn that stuff

I always figured, I'm paying them to go there, so let me take that stuff at my own pace. I'll work it in between ballgames, trips to Memphis etc... :D
