Brannen
Going back to Fickell's first year, people forget but the coaching was not good his first year, and neither was Mick's first few years. Its unfortunate, because this could have been a decent year but Brannen is going to have to learn some things, and he seems like a guy willing to learn. I will stand by my stance that wvery first year coach gets a year to figure it out, and learn from their F-ups.

His system does not seem like a good fit for this team, but maybe I am wrong and by conference play they will be running it to perfection. I hope he understands that systems are only as good as the personel you have. No system should ever be so rigid that you can't adjust to your personel.

I do believe Brannen has been dealt a tough hand in a number of ways between Bohn hamstringing his assistant pool, key players transferring, being late to the recruiting process, injuries, and your team leader being an injury riddled headcase. But he needs to talk to some smart people, I would recomend he start having conversations with Billy Donnovan and any successful cosches he knows on how to handle this team.

I wpuld recommend you pick a new team to follow because you are losing it - you don't need to start a new negative topic every six hours.

At least you have not called CJB names like other posters. How do the moderators on this board .... umm... decide how to moderate?

Posters are once again celebrating UC losses and the coach being a bad hire

The board was unbearable Cronin’s first few years

Huh, I guess I misworded this post. I literally am saying he needs a year or so to learn some things but it is going to suck during that process. I said the same thinf during Fickell's not so great rookie campaign as well. I just would like to see Brannen focus a little more on motivation and less on the system. Focus and consistent effort have been lacking, we shouldn't need extravagant schemes to beat Colgate and Bowling Green. We are superior in talent than those teams, just line up and beat them.

I want to believe in the guy, but it's hard to ignore the reality that unfolds with each game, most of them against mid-major opponents.

Realistically, he'll get three seasons, as he should. I don't believe that he is as poor a coach as he looks right now; when mid-major guys fail at higher-level programs, it's almost always because they can't recruit at the necessary level. My concern is that the team looks so bad now that quality recruits won't sign.

You can't ignore what John Brannen did at NKU. Clearly he knows how to coach. Doesn't mean he will be a fit here, but he took over a program that was really struggling in its first few years of Division I basketball and took it to 2 NCAA appearances and an NIT appearance in its first 3 years of eligibility. That doesn't just happen by accident. Brannen deserves 3 years before we bury him in my opinion.

Recruiting has been on par or better in two classes than the recent past. I don't believe recruiting will be an issue for CJB.

Land Eason, a couple quality grad transfers and bring everyone back (especially KW) and next year doesn't look too bad.
