I’d much rather be at the beach than Birmingham so after some reflection I’m fine with this.

Outside the playoffs and NY6, all these bowls are meaningless except for extra practices for the team.

Good luck getting 30k to Dallas after you barely got that many to show up in your own city.

They're playing Washington in the Las Vegas bowl I think. They only beat Marshall by 7 at home, so at least UCF gets an opportunity to prove how superior the AAC is to the MWC and Boy-Z.

Several of us will want to win to stay in the AP/Coaches' or in SMU's case return.
After we BEAT ARMY (sorry, reflex) Navy will be attempting to tie the school's all time best record of 11-2.
Playing on New Year's Eve or the day after New Year's Day can be good for recruiting, as is the final rankings, and the wins.

And each of our schools pockets $500,000 or so - that's a coordinator salary to keep pace with the autonomous five and separate from the G4 for our strategic goals.

So maybe not totally meaningless.

To go to the dump in Birmingham? Probably not even that...

This conference should be ashamed that their #2 team has to go play in the Birmingham Bowl. But then again, this is par-for-the-course of what UC gets for being in the 'Murican. It is so worth it.

At least UC's got a fancy P5 opponent. Want to trade, Bearcats? Sunny location for your P5 opponent?

If you want to be really pissed, consider that horrid UVA is in the Orange Bowl.

Get another glorious "P5" win. Decent exposure and end up with a top 25 finish.

Meaningless or not, I will probably watch at least parts of 30+ of them. But I watch MACtion on Tuesday nights, so I am just a CFB junkie.

After the 16Nov games, CLEM is only ACC team in CFP rankings. VT was a new #25 in AP / NR in coaches. In Massey Composite, compiling 111 computers, VT was only #39.
After 23 Nov games, VT appears at #24 in CFP (23/23 in the polls, but still only #35 in MC).
On 30 Nov, UVA beats VT for the first time in 15 years, and lo and behold appears at #23 in CFP, and 22/22 in the polls, but only #30 in the MC (to be fair, the MC had previously had UVA ahead of VT).
CLEM gets a ranked CCG opponent, whom they woodshed 62-17.
After that beatdown - having peeked up from unranked to a brand new 23/22/22, only to get a beatdown - UVA tumbles from 23 in the CFP to...#24. (AP NR, Coaches #25, MC (69 compiled so far) #33.
Luckily, the Orange Bowl has a second CFP-ranked ACC team to fulfill the ACC contract.
Doesn't smell good to me...week after week...

Wouldve rather played in the Hawaii bowl vs BYU. These AAC bowl tie ins are absolutely garbage, at least we get the Fenway bowl added to our lineup next year.

Same thing USF said before we beat them down on their home turf. Keep thinking you are the "national champions" in your rusted out stadium.

We are not USF. Thanks for banter but your only going to get bashed on this forum.

Marshall fans like rest of Huntsville is on heroin.

Comparing UVA to SMU...
SMU's best wins are MC #43 Temple, #51 TCU, #58 Tulane
UVA has one more win in that range: #38 Va Tech, #48 FSU, #49 UNC, #54 Pitt.
However, UVA also has TWO losses in that same range (to #45 Louisville and #59 Miami)
SMU's total of two losses to CFP-ranked Memphis and Navy kind of match UVA losses to CFP-better-ranked Clemson and ND.

Shenanigans
