He wasn't great against Memphis but he was serviceable which is more than I can really say about a lot of his more recent outings. FWIW, I still think he's a good QB that we can win a lot with when he's healthy and he has the potential to be a very good QB for us.
I'm really not trying to be argumentative but since this is a discussion board I'm curious; based on what?
I an offensive oriented game he's been at or below 50% passing in 5 of his last 10 games. Not a small sample size. If you give him an injury pass for USF and Temple that number is still 3/8; nearly 40%. He's a very good runner but not nearly enough to make up for that inaccuracy.
We've given him 3 years in the program and 24 starts; at what point is enough enough? I don't think his ceiling is anything more than Grutza/Munchie career reliable backup/spot starter type.

I thought he was really good last year for a redshirt freshman on a team like ours that clearly and emphatically emphasizes the run. Info on his injury (or injuries) status this year has been hard to come by including identifying what started when. But I'm willing to chalk this year up to a slow start followed by one or more injuries that also took a bit of a toll on his mental frame of mind. And I do think the kid is a winner (just not a magical winner as maybe the coaching staff seemed to think).
I'm all for the competition this offseason, but I'd have no problem if Des wins it with a healthy body after an offseason mental recharge.
