Price's lawyer files appeal with university
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ESPN.com news services
If anyone thought Mike Price was going to slip away quietly after being fired by Alabama before he ever coached a game, think again.
Price's lawyer, Stephen Heninger of Birmingham, has appealed the termination that took effect May 3, the Tuscaloosa News reported in Tuesday's editions. Price had 10 days from the time of his firing to appeal, so this would fall within that time period.
"We did get word today that he had requested an appeal of his termination," university spokesperson Janet Griffith said. "His lawyer has contacted the university's legal office."
The Tuscaloosa News was unable to reach Heninger on Monday.
Griffith said that since University President Robert Witt handled the termination, it is likely that Chancellor Malcolm Portera will handle Price's appeal.
Price, 57, was fired after only 4
