Bespoke Ranking Systems
Everyone has their own college football rank these days. theNEMindex.blogspot.com maintains three interesting ones:

NEMindex: which is mathematically designed to measure performance, not "eye test" or opinion. The write up to this week's ranking has some interesting things to say about Memphis: NEMindex

Marble Game: ranking based on giving each team a number of "marbles" at the beginning of the season, then transferring "marbles" to winners, with varying rules based upon whether the win was at home, etc.: Marble Game

Degrees of Separation: ranking based upon "linked wins," in which points given for beating a team, and extra points given for each team they have beaten: Degrees of Seperation

What's interesting to me is how much these different measures are alike. Memphis in low to mid teens in all of them, though there are some fun surprises for browsing.

Enjoy! Or ignore! Or whatever!

"Interestingly too, Utah is in a virtual tie with Memphis, who will be playing Cincy for the AAC championship. Considering that Cincy and Oregon are also nearly equal in RTPS, there is probably a scenario where Memphis destroys Cincy, and with some other losses and Utah either losing or winning in a tight game over Oregon, Memphis ends up in the 4th position here. I don't honestly believe Memphis is better than Utah, or Oklahoma, or Georgia, but that's what this system is supposed to do: find the teams that otherwise get written off when they shouldn't be."

I like it, sign them up as the official CFP ranking. Honestly, I've been saying for weeks that Utah has beat no one. At least this system seems to eliminate the bias.
