I bet he never plays football again.

Terrible injury, very sad.

was reading that they think with all the advances from 28-29 years ago with Bo Jackson that he will have a chance...

Will be interesting to see tonight if Hurts has a huge game, and dedicates the game to Tua.

The issue is that it usually weakens the bone by causing necrosis. I'm pulling for Tua and wish him well, but the outlook is not good at all.

Tua out for the season
He was in trouble before the game, why did Saban play him when it was a fairly easy win?

RE: Tua out for the season
I have to wonder why Saban was playing him in the first place. It will, likely, knock UA out of contention of the CFP knowing the loss of Tua will be part of the decision that the committee will make.

I hope Tua can make the recovery to allow him to play and a chance at the NFL.

I believe he just had ankle surgery a couple weeks ago, it was very iffy he was even going to suit up.

Tua did have surgery. But since he played against LSU and finished that game without incident, there wasn’t much indication that Him playing versus MSST would be an issue.

Alabama may well be on the outside looking in at the Playoffs. They have nobody but themselves to blame. They chose to play Duke, NMSU, USM, and Western Carolina as their non-conference foes. By not playing anyone, and then only LSU being strong in the West, whom they lost to, they lost control of their destiny.

Now the Tide has to blowout Auburn and hope for help to get in the Playoff.

If they blow out Auburn, they quite possibly would only need help from LSU beating Georgia....

He looked pretty iffy vs. LSU. It seems questionable to have played him at Mississippi St. in a game where he was less needed. It wasn't that extreme a tackle and a dislocated hip is pretty significant damage.

The issue is blood supply to the hip. If it is damaged, them you can get necrosis of the ball of the femur, which happened to Bo. Advances in medicine haven't really covered this. Now, a specific type of MRI would probably show if this occurred. But the truth is, you just won't know til he rehabs.

That's great news. But they did make one mistake with Tua. When a hip injury of this kind is suspected you don't try to relocate the hip manually on the field, which they did. That can cause more damage. But if he can make a complete recovery that's wonderful and I hope he gets a high draft selection and a nice bonus.

RE: Tua out for the season
I'll be honest. It broke me a little bit the other day when Tua went down. I knew it was bad and I had a friend text me privately about some of the details. His opinion was that the injury was probably career ending. I know what the official statement is and my gut says it's just too early to know for certain how everything will play out.

What I'm leery about here is the notion of "full recovery."

Making a full recovery and reattaining elite athletic status would be two different things in my mind. He had surgery this morning and it looks like everything went well. I would guess it's just too early to tell how effective the rehab will be.

My hope and prayer is that he regains every ability because that kid deserves every shot to be a millionaire, however, I would have rather lost every game than have something like this happen.

Damn. Here's a lesson to learned by high-profile recruits everywhere. Insist on loss-of-value insurance. If the school declines, go elsewhere.
