Countdown to Bowl Eligibility
The concensus here seems to be that a MAC team needs 7 wins to get an at-large bowl bid.

The only way, otherwise, if there is a 1 : 1 ratio of eligible teams to bowl bids. I am assuming the MAC gets 5 bowl bids, with a 6th possible. We are primary in 5 and secondary in 2.

https://getsomemaction.com/sports/2017/1...74346.aspx

As of now, there are 7 teams who could possibly get to 7 wins. Only WMU has won 7 games so far with most teams having played 10 games.

Last night the MAC got crazy when NIU upset TOL.

Look at TOL: They are 6 - 4 and have two games remaining: @Buff and @CMU. They are on the fence, needing to win a road game against teams ALSO needing to win.

How about UB: They have the easy route: Win 2 of 3 vs. Kent, TOL, and BGSU.

How about CMU: They are 6 - 4 and need to beat either @BSU or TOL.

How about BSU: Need to win 2 of 3 vs. CMU, Kent, and MIA.

EMU: And, of course, NIU looks tougher than it did 24 hours ago. No cakewalk for us!!

RE: Countdown to Bowl Eligibility
That Illinois win is by far the best OOC win in the conference, and I think that makes us a lock at 7-5 to go bowling. Pretty crazy that we’ve beat two bowl-eligible Big Ten teams in consecutive seasons. If you told me that would happen back in 2015, I would’ve laughed at you.

Kentucky’s season fell apart after Wilson got hurt (on a clean tackle that was called a horse collar) in our game. Lynn Bowden, who was their starting running back against us, is now their starting quarterback. Needless to say, they don’t throw much.

2020's schedule looks brutal non-conference. We need to capitalize now with that win over Illinois.

2020 Non-conference.....
-@Kentucky
-Vs Coastal
-@Missouri

I see a tough win against coastal and thats about it. Oddly, the army game is the worst of the bunch. Our dline is already on life support.

Yeah, not a load of cupcakes next year OOC.

Luckily, Army actually is on the down turn. They are on track for a 5-8 finish with 2 of the wins coming over FCS teams. Their O-Line was decimated by graduation this year, and this lose their long-time starting QB Kalvin Hopkins after this season.

They should be beatable.

Is the 2019 Quick Lane bowl still ACC/B10 unless they can not fill out the slots?

I believe it is. I think it might be a MAC primary tie in again starting in 2020.

I did not realize that. But googled it to confirm. Thanks for the heads up. And glad to see the MAC back as a primary. Always seemed like a good fit.

Gosh I hope you are right Frank but I have followed Army this year and they remind me of the 2017 EMU team that lost every close game they played, hardly a bad team.

I don't know what you guys think but I will always maintain the best Eastern football team in the Creighton era was that 2017 5-7 team.

Miami still has Akron to play so they'll have at least 7 wins. It's looking like at least one 6-6 team will get one of the 5 MAC tie-ins. Ohio will likely get to 6-6. Kent and BSU still play each other so one of them will not go bowling.

Just hoping we beat NIU. That would make us bowl eligible and knock them out.
