California is a nice place to visit.... Yosemite is one of the coolest places to visit. Redwoods are awesome. SanFran is cool. Emerald triangle.

But I'd rather live in the south.

If you're smart, can earn a good living, and are interested in having access to cultural and major league sporting events, then California is the place to be. If your resources are limited and want a cheaper place to live, then Arkansas isn't bad.

I have a buddy in Escondido north of San Diego on 15. It went 5 years without rain. They didn't flush to toiler when they pissed. Nastiest Walmart ever is in northern california on 101. And everything is too expensive.

No one wants to live in California. It’s too crowded.

If you're wealthy, without question California. Sorry, but better restaurants, better women (whaddya all mean?!?!), better events (yes, they even have college football there, I hear tell), better airports, better wine (BY FAR), better beer (a ton more microbreweries in California than Arkansas), better museums (pretty important for a parent), better universities (gee....Arkansas has UA, California has UCLA, UC-Berkeley, Stanford, USC, CalTech), better public transportation, better skiing, better surfing, better beaches, better Branson).state parks, better mountains, better entertainment (unless you REALLY like Branson).

If you're Asian American? Uh, that would be a no brainer, California.

If you're a middle class, white conservative (i.e. this board), then Arkansas, no question. More affordable housing, less traffic, less pollution, better barbecue, more intense college sports following, better churches, better Home Depots (because you can actually afford a house and yard).

If you're a businessperson starting a company? California. The brainpower in California is the best in the world (even better than Texas!!?!?! Say it ain't so!). There's a reason why so many great tech companies are founded here and NOT Arkansas. The list is virtually endless: Facebook, Google, Intel, Yahoo, Apple, Snap, AMD, Oracle, HP, Cisco.

So, if you're CMN and you're offered the Arkansas job?

I had a home in Cayucos California. 2005-2012. The only non liberal part of California (Orange county too). I would sell my soul to live there again. One block from the ocean. California is insanely beautiful. Mountains, ocean, vibe, etc etc. Yet it's the most f'd up state politically I've ever lived in. The maniacs have ruined that state, so I'll pick Arkansas. When you start picking Arkansas over the coast of California, you really know how messed up this country is. No offense to Arkansas. It's a beautiful place too, but nothing is like California when you're talking about unbelievable beauty. Too bad the idiots totally f'd it up.
