We're really crashing the boards-- virtually everyone on the floor. Only 4-15 on 3-pointers.

So losing 11-13 since it was 21-6? Better put this thing away early in the 2H. Don't let them hang around.

OUr horrific 3-point shooting (4-21) is keeping it relatively close (48 - 36). WE also have 15 turnovers. Martin and Fiedler each with 10 boards.

And just like that Murphy hits back-to-back 3s to push the lead to 58 - 36 with 3:24 to play. Murph with 16 points (7-11 FG), 5 boards, 4 blocks. Mullin looking more like himself this game.

Also note that we did this with Adams playing only 10 minutes and held scoreless, and Martin only 3-12 from the floor.

65 - 38 Rice with under a minute to play. Second consecutive outstanding defensive effort.

It might only be Wayland Baptist, and it might have been rough during stretches, but Rice held a basketball team to 40 points which is good enough for me.

Yep, we did it without the Seniors. Not missing QMB as much as I feared. Murphy is becoming a force. If we avoid transfers, this team can become very good.

The real stretch goal here is UH. If we can play with them, we can play with anyone on this year's schedule.

RE: Rice MBB v. Wayland
Nice game today. We definitely seem to be stressing defense since the Arkansas game. I'm impressed with Fiedler. He's going to help a ton with the losses of QMB and Williams. I didn't hear (or see) what happened with Adams. I'm not even sure if he was on the bench for the 2nd half? The schedule gets tougher again with two road games next week, and then the UH game. But I think if we keep showing signs of improvement, we can certainly improve upon our CUSA result from last season.

Adams injured a finger in the Penn game. My guess is he didn't play today because it wasn't necessary to risk playing him hurt.

He started, and got two quick fouls. Only played 10 minutes, and sat out the 2nd half.
