RE: La Tech vs Marshall
It's fitting that when we meet the Herd again the game is a big one with a lot on line. I have lots of respect for Marshall's program and would like to make a game there sometime.

Looking at the forecast, looks like virtually no chance of precipitation on Friday, but looks like it will be right around freezing at kickoff with a low of 24 as the evening progresses.

Not only are we looking at below freezing temperatures, but Marshall athletics have 2 other things at the exact same time... right as we are kicking off in Huntington, the men's basketball team is tipping off against Notre Dame and the highly ranked men's soccer team is kicking off in the conference semifinal and probably playing for an NCAA Tournament bye and home game.

I think my personal play on this one is stay warm and have three televisions going at one. If you look on the select a seat ticket dales site, there aren't a lot of tickets sold for this one (as was the case for our last two home games), so this is probably going to be an extremely unusual time, setting, atmosphere, and temperature...

RE: La Tech vs Marshall
Tech never plays good under cold weather.
This will be a low scoring game as both head coaches will try to control the clock and field position.
If Skip stays aggressive like he has been doing in the last 4 games then we will have a chance to come away with a win.

Cold used to be a big advantage for us, but since we got the IPF that seems to have gone away. Guess our guys aren't used to it either.

It's going to be in the mid 60s here tomorrow and then snow and a high of 30 on Tuesday. Gotta love cold fronts.

IPF and/or our over-reliance on FLA kids.

Either way, both teams will probably be in the same boat.

The cold weather is not going to play in our favor. But is going to be cold in Ruston this week also, hopefully the team will get out and practice in Tuesday evening and Thursday in Huntington.

Toss up game IMO, I have seen Marshall play well this year (Boise,FAU) and really bad (Cincinnati). Tech doesn’t need to start out slow on the road, if we are going to win.

Tech has the much better offense. Although our DL has been extremely good the last 3-4 games. Tech wins this one in a tight game.

Kickoff temps will be around 40 degrees from the latest forecast.

Weather shouldn’t be an issue, we have a cold front coming through and should be able to get some practices in with temps 40 or lower.

Ready for a good game, and hopefully a good win. Our team needs to make the final push to the finish line starting Friday.

USM fan base cheers on Marshall. FAU fan base cheers on LaTech.
In reality, these two teams are very close. I'd give a slight advantage to LaTech at a neutral venue but the game IS played in Huntington. This is the regular season game of the year in the conference

Shouldn't the title of this thread read 7 p.m. EST, considering it's playing in Huntington?

I've grown to really respect La Tech. It's a good football program.

With that being said, hopefully we can pull this one out
Would be nice to play for the Conference Championship in Huntington.

I have seen a few Marshall’s games this season.
They can score but Doc played not to lose causing their offense to stall after going up a score or two.
Game will be close until the very end.

Yes, we Marshall fans know this all too well.

Doc is uber conservative. He is a punt on fourth-and-two on the 38-yard line kind of coach.

I figure Doc will blow it so I'm thinking Tech by 10. Skip will out coach him in the 2nd half when it matters.

A month or two ago, I would say there is no chance in hell that Skip would out coach anyone in the nation. Something just clicked with him during the UMass game and he has been calling a very aggressive and a lot less predictable plays.

We have very good offensive weapons in RB Henderson and WR group (Slayton, Hardy, Hebert, Graham, Powell). J'mar may be the weakest point on the offense and he is much better this year.

Our strength will be on our defense with the amazing Amik Robertson - you will hear his name calling on Sunday game next year.
This is the first year that our defense stays true to the meaning of bend but won't break. We should be top 5 in the nation in red zone defense.
Our lone lost was against Texas - it was the first game with the new DC. He dialed up play much better than the previous DC that we lost to Miami.
