RE: Wiseman Ineligible
And he was classified as a booster from the day he donated $$.

This thing stinks. You guys know it. It’s why Memphis fans are turning themselves into a pretzel (once again) and sweating like a hooker in church on this.

Of course it is. Just like you can’t be a booster if you haven’t made a donation in 10 years. I’m trying to figure out definitions here. So, who’s a booster? A guy who pays $1000 a year for a 20 year period or a guy who makes a one time donation of $1,000,000?

You are not stupid, just extremely biased. You know the NCAA is wrong here. The kid was 8 years old when Penny made the donation. They cleared him back in may knowing all of this.

None of this information was hidden, no one was trying to break the rules here.

Public opinion is strongly on Wiseman and Penny's side. Its hard to believe you would actually think the kid should be forced to sit out the season over this. Could you really be that cold blooded?

That's because the NCAA sucks, not because what Penny didnt wasnt shady as ****.

Who’s being stupid? Penny that’s who. He paid the kid’s family money so the kid would stick with him. The minute he took the Memphis job he needed to let the kid go.

What are you even talking about? Wiseman was free to go wherever he wanted.

The NCAA cleared him to play at Memphis, the kid wanted to play for his HS coach and NBA legend.

What kid wouldn't?

There’s no reasoning with you. Penny gave the kid money (check). Penny is a Memphis booster (check). Kid can no longer go to Memphis and play. (You bet). NCAA issued an error in declaring eligibility (what else is new). Be PO’d at the NCAA. They F’d up apparently in May and now claim their ruling was incorrect. Color me shocked.

In other words, yes, you are that cold blooded and do not want the kid to be able to play the entire season. Though I'm sure you will now begin to swear otherwise. But its been pretty clear where you stand all along.

Penny was allowed to give the family money as a HS coach (check)

There is a serious legal question over being a booster in "perpetuity" forever (Check)

The NCAA cleared Wiseman to play knowing all of this (Check)

You will have to explain again how I am being "unreasonable". The NCAA are full of it here and this is totally their fault. All they had to do was say he can't play for Memphis and Wiseman would be at Kentucky and fully eligible. Instead they clear him fully and now want to punish the 18 year old kid for their mistake? That is messed up.

This will be the last reply to you cause you have your own delusions. You’ve assumed my motives and projected your own insecurities into what I’ve said so I’ll make it crystal clear.

I want Memphis to be good. It helps UC and the conference.
I do NOT want Memphis to cheat to be good.
You guys cheated.
Cheating is what you guys do.

Enjoy

No, Memphis did NOT cheat, that is just a straight up lie.

Memphis was not even involved with any of this at the time and Penny was a HS coach.

That is not cheating. Penny got the Memphis job AFTER the next season, and cleared all of this with the NCAA before Wiseman enrolled.

That is not cheating, that is the NCAA screwing a kid over.

Run away if you feel the need. But those are the facts.

This is just the first time Memphis will be shown to be cheating under Hardaway. The stench comes with the AAU connection.

Memphis also should not and will not get the benefit of the doubt from the NCAA given the history of cheating that has taken place at Memphis.

RE: Wiseman Ineligible
Memphis what a glorious history!

Memphis — Seven Major Infractions: The good feelings that accompanied Memphis State’s 1985 Final Four run diminished in the ensuing years as karma, tragedy and bad luck befell various member of the team and coaching staff. Head coach Dana Kirk was fired in 1986 after the NCAA uncovered recruiting violations and vacated the 1985 Final Four appearance. He later served a prison term for tax evasion, a crime he committed while he served as the head coach. Star center William Bedford was drafted sixth overall in the 1986 NBA draft, but his career was derailed by drug addiction, and he’s currently serving a 10-year prison sentence. Reserve guard Aaron Price was killed in a carjacking in 1998. Small forward Baskerville Holmes committed a murder-suicide in 1997. . All of that was forgotten in 2008, however, when John Calipari had the Tigers positioned to win the national title. That run was vacated by the NCAA in 2009, as Memphis was given three years of probation for Derrick Rose’s fraudulent SAT score and the $1,700 in free travel and lodging provided to his brother. Before penalties were levied, Calipar soon bolted to Kentucky, which has had 6 probations handed down and currently has its star recruit from its 2012 class under NCAA investigation.

All of the above is why Memphis won't and shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt from the NCAA. They've proven over decades a willingness to cheat to win.

In Eric's world anything you do to help a recruit is not a violation because you meant well, and they needed help.

A booster gave money to a kid so he’d go to the school. Open & shut. Let the kid play anywhere except Memphis. That’s justice. You don’t have to like it, but you need to go deal with it.
