RE: Conference Rankings
They can’t blame our teams good records on high rankings any longer. But unfortunately the bias is still real. A top 25 win in the American will result in us jumping a few spots. In the SEC or Big 10, which are ESPN’s love children, they will jump 7 to 10 spots. I’m hoping the playoff committee will recognize what’s going on and rank our teams accordingly. Us, Cincy and SMU should all be top 15.

Not really. So far this year only 4 teams have jumped 5 spots or more in the AP poll. Two of them were PAC 12 teams. One was a SEC team and one was a Big 10 team. Three of those were in the same week when a lot of ranked teams lost. The SEC teams generally start out in the top 10 of the poll. It's a lot harder to drop out since you only drop a few spots depending on who you play.

Cal Week 5, +8 (beat Ole Miss)
Auburn Week 2, +6 (beat Oregon)
Wisconsin Week 5, +5 (beat Michigan)
Washington Week 5, +5 (beat BYU)

Navy has a real chance to make some noise in a few weeks with a win over Notre Dame. The way the Michigan running game ran over the Irish Saturday night the people in South Bend need to be concerned.

I hope we can have a couple more years like this and parlay it into better bowl tie ins. The best AAC team, or the second best if the best is in a major bowl should have a tie in with a second tier bowl (Gator, Music City, Liberty etc.) and other teams 2nd and 3rd better options than we now have.

Swap Appy State with UConn and I wonder if it would pass the SEC? Probably not.

That would make a fun road trip for me. Not sure if anyone from Memphis can get there.

True. The real argument is the starting point. P5 schools are artificially inflated coming into the year, at the expense of the G5. They are propped up from the beginning so that it seems natural that they are the ones in the CFP. At the same time, G5 schools start out too low so that they never have a shot at crashing the party.

I'm not sure that is the intent with the actual AP voters. They are likely just guessing using traditional powers so that they don't look like idots. But the artificial inflation is certainly capitalized upon by the CFP committee with money at stake.

RE: Conference Rankings
So, according to this rating, AAC should be a Power 5, and, ACC is a Power 6.

So... where's our coin?!?! :)

Bowl tie ins are based on TV ratings and fans that travel.[not necessarily in that order]

The bigger conderences are bigger because their fanbases are larger. It is a self fulfilling cycle. If you want Memphis to go to a bigger conference or hope to see the American get better tie ins then go to every bowl game we are chosen for and get your friends to go too.

There's a lot of broad-brush in your statement. You left off the part about right place, right time luck 100 years ago.
