***Official Temple v UCF Game Thread***
UCF Knights (5-2, 2-1) at Temple Owls (5-2, 2-1)
7:00 PM, Saturday, October 26, 2019
Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
ESPN2
Weather forecast: Cloudy, 60°, 10% chance of rain, 63% humidity, winds at ESE 6 mph
Vegas opened and remains as Temple +10.5. Over/under moved from 62.5 to 60.5.
Overall record between these schools favors UCF, 4-2. UCF has won the last two games, including last season with a 52-40 win.
Both teams need to win to stay competitive in the east with 1st place Cincinnati. Both teams have been in and flirted with the Top 25 this season. Temple's last game was a beatdown provided at SMU, 45-21. UCF's last game was a home win against ECU, 41-28.
As a Temple fan, I do not have a lot of confidence in our team's ability to win this game. We were ripped by speedy receivers last week, and our offense, especially our WRs, failed to execute. The 10.5 spread feels like Vegas is expecting a big loss as well. Our one hope is that we seem to play much better at home. But, as noted above, this is a must-win for both teams for winning the East.

Unfortunately I can’t debate this prediction. We did a pretty good job against the Memphis offense two weeks ago and a terrible job against SMU’s offense last week. We have two starting DL and a starting DB injured and questionable. Many Owls fans looking at this 3 week run (Memphis, SMU, UCF) were hoping we wouldn’t be swept; we are 1-1, but looking at a must win against an excellent opponent.

Tale of two teams.
Both play much better at home....and both sometimes struggle on the road.
Will one of those trends change or will they remain status quo?
Tune in tomorrow night to find out!

Part of it is I just think UCF is due for a game where they really get it together against solid competition. The Stanford game was the closest to it so far.

Same could be said about Temple. If UCF gets off to a 2 touchdown lead early, the game is over. If Temple can keep them out of the end zone by giving up FG's, it is a game in to the 4th Q and a turnover or lucky bounce will determine the outcome.

I think if we shut down the Temple run game we'll pull out the W.

Temple looks good at home. This should be a tight game.

Not confident, we’ve struggled on the road and teams with a pulse.

We’re just so bad on the road compared to playing at home. Granted, our road opponents have been:
4-3 FAU
5-2 Pitt
6-1 Cincinnati
Meanwhile, all the home opponents have been junk (UCONN, FAMU, ECU, Stanford). We will need our OL to come together tonight to have a chance. They’ve been surprisingly weak this year considering we returned three 1st-Team All-AAC OL.

This absolutely feels like the type of game Temple would show up big for. They are the type of Jekyll and Hyde team that would get their doors blown off then come up big at home.

I think we show up big, but big enough to beat the knights? Dunno. Will be close game. I think.

Temple keys:
-QB pressure
-Establish run game
-Limit big plays
Sounds like typical game stuff but we need to play the Knights the way Cincinnati did, tough and physical. Gabriel is not McKenzie, we need to get him dancing and nervous. Run game needs to sustain long drives keeping UCF off the field, we cannot get into a shootout. And we need safety help for our CBs, SMU beat us deep numerous times.
Temple/UCF has had some great games in the American, from the Knights miracle TD catch at the Linc, Phillip Walkers TD pass with 3 seconds left in Orlando and even last years shootout. Maybe another last play game?

Temple is tough at home... not gonna say why...
We're gonna see if UCF is the true super duper CFB heavyweight claimed by so many or... were they just a two season flash in the pan.

Temple is still an 11 point dog at home. I respect Temple's team and their physical brand of football but this could be another SMU type game where the more dynamic offense will score more points for the win. It probably comes down to which team can dictate the pace/tempo forcing the other team into a style of game they don't want to get in to.
