There was a thread on the CUSA board that mentioned the Fox News article of today..I copied the article so posters would see the entire article.
Is this an example of East Carolina Fans?
This was my Post:
The Fox News article Sour 16 Hoops and Helmets listed their worst combination of Football and Basketball programs this year, article dated March 25, 2004.
Current CUSA members:
1 Army-outgoing member
11 E. Carolina
14 Tulane
Incoming CUSA member:
6 SMU
Possible new member:
10 Temple
MAC members:
5 Ohio
7 Central Michigan
15 Eastern Michigan
This is not my listing...but that of Fox Sports.
Many members of this board have attacked La Tech and North Texas as not worthy of CUSA membership and in particular they attack on the Sun Belt Conference NT is in...BUT I DID NOT NOTICE LATECH, NT, OR A SINGLE SUN BELT TEAM ON THIS LIST.
Having said this; I understand colleges have up and down cycles I understand Tulane had an outstanding FB team in the last few years, and this year that any team losing 8 lineman to injuries in one season would be badly hurt. I also understand that remaining CUSA members have many "good" teams.
I guess what I am saying is why attack a school whose supporter has posted info and facts...and who is proud of his school just as those members who post info and facts on their schools are proud of their school. It only makes for bitter exchanges and feelings.
I believe it is a matter of fact...that North Texas Fans are not familiar with many of the Eastern schools, their facilities and athletic programs just as I would believe that supporters of Eastern schoolls are not familar with North Texas, its facilities and athletic programs.
A free exchange of information should be encouraged, not attacked. Yes, I even hope that SMU turns its football program around...maybe then they will play North Texas and together both schools will fill each others stadiums.
This is the response from a poster I would believe is a East Carolina supporter.

The worst combination of hoops and helmets programs for 2003-2004. 3 CUSA members on the list and 2 "potential members" as well. SMU gets a special place on that list at #6. Congrats, SMU and Tulane!
Sour 16 from CFN
I would swear there was a little notice several days ago about going to another conferences board and talking trash! That would be you, MORON!
I know, I know, Most NT fans are way to stupid to understand such things!
Hey, at least our conference get's noticed! The sunbelt is basically non-existant in the grand scheme of things. The sun who?

Let me also add...NT Oldtimer, that my post was in response to Stan R! You just happened to be collateral damage. Do you not expect CUSA'ers to have livid responses to non-members that continue to aggravate us?
A UNT fan came to the CUSA board to flame, and when he got it back, you want to cry over it. Sheesh man, you may need to thicken the skin a little. :ecu:
Any mod or admin that floats through here, please feel free to wipe out this thread. It seems to be a drive by posting from someone who feels slighted. Maybe they should take it to their board. :crying:

You know, Oldtimer, coming to the CUSA board and running smack against the conference and it's members probably isn't the best way to get attention and favor for your school in it's bid to move up from the Sun Belt.....
Keep that in mind next time the mood strikes you.....

Post do not represent all people from a school. ECU has had many top 25 football years and bowl wins, including a top 10. We have been down since 2000 so recent history looks bad. ECU has won B-Ball games against Final 4 Teams and ranked teams. Our baseball program is ALWAYS in the top level. While NTX has had some bowl games I don't think you should attack ECU. ECU isn't the reason NTX isn't coming to C-USA, the C-USA BOD is. I don't know the answers but you have to consider the following.
Budgets
Game attendance
Wins in the last 10 years
Wins against BCS teams in last 10 years
Basketball attendance
Non Conference wins and wins against Top teams (B-Ball)
Size of school
Location of school
Alumni support
History
ECU is the 3rd (soon to be 2nd) largest school in NC. ECU has tremendous Alumni support. While we too (like NTX) live in the shadows of the primary State schools (UNC and NCSU) we have games against them in many sports and often win. Do you play UT? Do you win? Do people at NTX have UT shirts?
3 Years agao ECU was considered by many the best football program in both NC and SC. That is no longer the case but our facilites and growth have been huge. ECU can have any kid in the nation visit and that kid will know it's a big time school. If NTX can do all these things then I agree they should be considered. Don't be mad at ECU, sell yourself to C-USA!
