And a medium schedule, no ranked opponents, SMU, Navy, and Rutgers along with an FCS in ooc.

In fact their schedule that year and this year look remarkably similar. Swap one FCS for another, SMU and Navy are now conference games though and Auburn instead of Rutgers.

So far it looks like SMU. I think many had Tulane at 2 or 3 in the west. Navy was more unknown. I think Tulsa is solid, but still may finish last in the west... who knows.

SMU and Tulane were my votes

Agree - that will be a very interesting game - "The battle of the under-rated AACs!"

Almost all of the intra-division AAC West games are going to be interesting, for that matter, although Memphis has to be the clear favorite at this point, playing both Tulane and SMU on their home field.

Since Tulane plays @ SMU, SMU may be favored to take 2nd place in the AAC West, but anything can happen.

All this is very good for the AAC as a whole, shifting attention dramatically to the AAC West, for a change.

But did they "win" those games? Points scored over-complicate the game.

I underrated Dana Holgorsen’s ability to immediately make teams worse

SMU.

I knew they were in for a special season when I watched them roll us at Ford in week 2. North Texas is not a bad team, and they flat out took us behind the woodshed. The Mustangs could certainly win the AAC West and contend for the conference title.

FearTheWave Podcast did a really nice special on that team. 6 chapters called PERFECT WAVE. Highly encourage all AAC fans to check it out.

I actually thought Tulane would be decent. I wasn’t really expecting a whole lot from SMU, so they got my vote. But don’t sleep on Navy.

I would have to say Tulane, but SMU has also exceeded my expectations as well.

I would vote for Tulane as the most improved FB program in the history of the American Athletic Conference, the entire conference since its inception, hands down.

Tulane has performed well, but a SMU victory over TCU, and being undefeated, has to get the nod.

I think the real answer right now is Tulane and SMU.

I picked Tulane only because I have not seen SMU play yet.

I think Tulane, SMU, and Navy would be my top choices

Navy will probably move up this list based on the way they played @ Memphis.
