On a more serious note, I think 2 minutes between innings is workable. With the slower nature of baseball, there's no reason to take long commercial breaks. Just incorporate ads into the broadcast.
I always thought a natural fix was to eliminate commercial breaks between innings as well. Put advertisements on the screen, and simply speed up the warm-up process for pitchers.

The problem is speed of the game, but forcing relievers to see 3 batters doesn’t seem like the solution. How about no warm up pitches instead?
Yes. No warmup pitches on the field, except when the previous pitcher left because of injury and is replaced by a pitcher who had no warmup in the bullpen. Also, maximum of 2 minutes between the end of one half inning and the start of the next. I'd make it a minute and a half if it was feasible.
I’d take that in a heartbeat. MLBPA would cry bloody murder of course.
With Manfred he'd likely capitulate to the PA's whining. In times like these MLB needs a Kennesaw Mountain, he'd f**k the Union with a rusty spoon.
But I do like the additional proposals posted as well. Especially striking out on foul balls.
The problem is with the CBA and the union now- they can't just unilaterally do stuff... No commissioner could do what Mountain did now today.

If Landis was commissioner today, the owners would fire him before the end of his first pay period. If you're not completely sure of that, ask Fay Vincent.

RE: 2019-20 MLB Off Season/Hot Stove Thread
FEB. 16, 2020 - Tony Fernandez, a stylish shortstop who made five All-Star teams during his 17 seasons in the major leagues and helped the Toronto Blue Jays win the 1993 World Series, died Sunday after complications from a kidney disease. He had been in a medically induced coma and had waited years for a new kidney. Fernandez won four straight Gold Gloves with the Blue Jays in the 1980s and holds club records for career hits and games played. A clutch hitter in five trips to the postseason, he had four separate stints with Toronto and played for six other teams. He was 57.

they have bullpens. They are warming up there. No other sport or position allows for the stoppage of play so a player can warm up during the game.
It would be like allowing a basketball player to shoot some baskets before coming in - on the court. Or a QB to get some practice routes with his receivers. Hell, lets let a kicker kick a few before he has to attempt a FG.

I'm sorry but boo hoo. Having an inning with 1 batter faced, pitching change, 1 batter faced, pitching change, 1 batter faced, pitching change- that is not good at all...

And sorry the 3 batter rule- the teams ONLY have themselves to thank. Teams doing stupid **** like the 2018 Brewers in the LCS.

That example illustrates why the rule is a gross overreaction.
If that was the problem, it could have been addressed by a rule requiring only that the starting pitcher face at least three batters.

Other stuff as well. Sorry but folks do not want to sit thru an inning with batter, pitching change, batter, pitching change, batter, another pitching change.

That goes back to the comments above about warmup pitches. If warmup pitches in the middle of an inning were outlawed, as they should be, then changing pitchers in mid-inning would be no more disruptive than substituting players in mid-quarter in a basketball game.

I just don't think that's realistic though.

I just don't think that's realistic though.
If you can arbitrarily say that a pitcher who enters the game in the middle of the 7th has to pitch to three batters, then you can just as easily say that a relief pitcher has to take all his warmup tosses before he is substituted into the game. If that's not realistic, it's only because the doofuses who run the sport won't do it.

no to the first one- I like those battles between pitcher/batter even if they're long.
yes to 2 minutes, and don't they already have some in-game ads on screen these days?

I agree here. No warmup pitches on field unless injury replacement or maybe just one max.
