This is a year where 8W is hella-good, given the tough MAC road schedule. With our D from last year coming into this year's, it'd be SILLY to expect a 10W season being within even a lucky reach this year.

Our post 1-11 year under Papa PJ (2014): 8-4 regular season [@Purdon't, @Idaho, @VA-Tech, Ohio, NIU, Toledo, @CMU, EMU]
Next year we were a better team (2015): 7-5 regular season [MSU, @GA-Southern, @OSU, @Ohio, @NIU, @Toledo (ranked), CMU, @EMU (but EMU sucked bad then; but not now for a road game)]

But wait -- how could we be better, but not only lack an equal record, but a worse record? SCHEDULE.

So I couldn't go by 8W vs 7W regular season. 7W could reflect a better team than 8W.

This year is a tougher Conf Schedule than last. Tough to tell if Toledo, NIU, and Ohio are any worse than last year yet. But they're on the road. I can tell EMU is just as dangerous, and they're on the road this time too.

I don't think road games should automatically be penciled as tough because they're on the road and not at home, but I definitely agree about your analysis of 2014 and 2015, and we could be 7-5 this year but still be 'better' then last year (as disappointing as 7-5 again would be).

I think road games are toughER. Tends to be that way -- and it's not just crowd size. NIU's very good at home, so is Toledo. EMU -- I would say it alone doesn't affect them, but at the same time, it's us having travel -- thankfully not a long trek. But going to Ohio -- yeah, we'd rather play at home. They'll have a mighty fine crowd, and it's not next door.

My guess is Eastern will be 6-1 going into the game vs us. If we lose at Toledo, would be devastating to lose to Eastern and practically be out of the MAC race so early.

I think Toledo plays Eastern early too, so be crazy 1 of the West contenders will be out of it in early October.

If the D can get it together, I really like our chances in the MAC

I can see EMU having an incredible year in the W-L column. I can see them taking care of us on the road if we can't play defense as the season continues... If so... I think this may be Creighton's last year in Ypsi.

My money is on Ball State or CMU the last game of the season. Losing to us wouldn't be a head-scratcher.
